LOL!

After reading your post, I thought: "lemme click this troll's soundclick page, he's probably ****. That's why he's acting like a little fúcker!"

Then I heard "Up On Me". That was TIGHT. And you have nearly 300 songs. **** dude. And you appear to know music theory or how to play piano, or is someone playing for you? Instead of acting like a little..., you could be dropping tips and telling us how you got to the level you're at. How old are you? Up on Me was compressed as HELL, but sounded good!

The rest of your songs on the front page sound Ne-Yoish, and like anything on radio in 2009, but the Up On Me stood out to me.

Good ****.

Now quit being an arse. :)

I was just being sarcastic...its never too late

smokey robinson...over 60
lionel richie...over 50
prince over 40
michael jackson...50 and was about to embark on probably what would have been the biggest concert tour of all time.

rolling stones... all over 60 and still rolling
just saw gladys knight in concert a month ago...over 60 and out danced any 20 year old.

Paul McCartney...approaching 70 and still one of the biggest out there.

musician play until the die period.

Once you've made it/are known, of course you can keep on going, but I'm talking about BREAKING INTO the industry at an "old" age.

Art is a way of life

you don't just start wearing corduroy and listening to mono swing records as soon as you get old...I know people who are 50 who work in record shops and listen to northern soul...people of 60+ who teach music....people 80 who still buy records

its just a question of how cool you are

watch a lot of Curb Your Enthusiasm

Over at 30??? Pharrell is over 32 years old and still goin strong....i don't even know if he has reached his peak as a producer....

Its not like as you age the sound of your beats will become old because of your physical age lol..

Once you're IN it's fine. I'm talking about STARTING at a late age.

starting early and still grinding in your 30s is different than being a 35 yr old that all of a sudden wants to be a rapper..you have to do shows and all that to get yourself out there..you mean to tell me @ age 35 that you have no responsibilities ?..drug game aint workin for ya?,did one too many bids?,don't like to work? can't keep a job? wrap it up,buddy..to me,the production side is a whole different story..wisdom makes great production..it's the knowledge you obtained about producing that makes you better..the producer doesn't have to be seen..so the producer could be 60 yrs old,the rapper can not

I don't know why this reminded me of Scatman John. He had 2 hits in 1995 at age 50, but he was a flukey joke.

don't see how, timbaland 37 aint he? he definitely peaked 2 years ago so he was 35 when he got his big turn...rick ross is old, in fact most rappers are past 30 right now

yall not comprehending, yall just typing...these ppl started grinding before they were 30 and lmao @ thinking Timbaland just popped 2 years ago, also Tim aint and was never tryna be a rapper..he's a producer which adds to my point...

also not looking a day over 25 always helps

yup, I'm 28 but I get regularly ID'd for alcohol (must look over 25 to not get ID'd)..people usually assume I'm 22-23

So I would probably look 30 when I'm 37 or something lol, this sounds gay but I really do take care of my skin etc, them wrinkles around the eyes are the biggest give away, so get loads of rest...

this only sleeping 3-4 hours is bull****, what you need is solid 8 hours sleep, and you will be much more productive each day...

If it really bothers you, just lie...no-one can prove my real age unless they dug up my birth certificate, and if they are doing that then I must have blown up anyway!!

You can't deny, Ayo technology round about that time was when he was the most famous...He may be big in the USA before, but I guarantee in the UK no-one heard of him until about 2 years ago, the mainstream that is

British person here. My mum knew who Timbaland was in 1997, and back then, she was about 40-odd.

its only teenie boppers and popfans that are just learning who he is due to his producing for Nelly and other pop acts.

I went to secondary school in the late 1990s and my (black) peers and friends knew who he was. Other groups were into pop, rock (Oasis, etc), so obv they were out of the loop.

yes put as hip-hop heads we obviously know who he is, I knew who he was since the magoo album...I know who yukmouth is, but the average UK head won't...I'm saying your average ignorant UK pop consumer, would not have known his name before that year

This thread has officially become useless chatter. You wanna do it - do it. If you're afraid of being too old - then don't do it.
Here people start talking about wrinkle cream and taking care of your skin.. wtf? Is this a Mickey Mouse Club beauty contest or something?

I'm unsubscribing from this thread.

Honestly this thread is not really necessary.

What are you looking for? Why are you worried about what other people think? If you want to produce do it. Who cares what your age is if you make good music. You will do what you want to do. If you want to limit yourself by thinking there is some kind of invisible rulebook somewhere that says 30 is to old then by all means do that but i honestly think you are putting yourself in a cage. Why are you putting limits on yourself. If you have to ask people if 30 is too old you are not ready for this industry. People such as A&R's and managers are always telling people there stuff sucks even if it may not. You have to believe in yourself because if you dont no one else will. Your question has already been answered numerous times.

PLease close this thread.

Music is great once you get caught up with trying to be the best or make a lot of money off of it then it starts to suck because your stressing. "Is it too late for me" or "I have to make a hit" and that sh!t aint kool..just take it for what it is..if you love to make music and passionate about it...just do the sh!t lol dont worry about am I too old..WTF never too old to start you adventure in music.........Just Love it then Die..lol

Yes, but each reply teaches me something new. Yours was a HUGE lesson for me, which I wouldn't have got had they closed the thread after 2 replies. Thanks. That is 1 of the replies I am going to remember the most, even if the tone of it is "you big baby taking up our time".

Thanks!

I think the odds of "making it" in the music industry are extremely slim unless you are:

very talented
have mad connections
have a lot of money to spend on yourself
a networking/marketing genius
have a LOT of time on your hands

Isn't making music for the fun of making music good enough? I've accepted the fact that I will probably never get paid for any of my work and I'm okay with that. I'm not trying to be the next idiot in a music video.

I don't know how many people I've met who seriously, genuinely expected to MAKE IT in the music industry. The only person out of all of them that has had any sort of real success has done so because he's a naturally very talented individual in all forms of art and creation, and he also LIVES music... when he isn't working on a track he's playing shows or organizing a party or record shopping or networking.. and even though he puts in a lot of work, it's not like he's "famous" or anything.

The only way to ever make it in ANYTHING is to shut yourself off from the outside world and do not get distracted... just work on your goal nonstop. I have too much crap going on in my life to do that, so for me, beats/music is just a fun time-waster.

And BACK DOWN THE POOPER goes my confidence boost from the earlier posts in this thread.
