Oh, I hear what you are saying now. Definitely all sounds from keyboards though. That tom roll sounds more like a record scratch of some sort to me but I don't know.

its a minnie rippleton sample and horn patch. **** is wack as hell.

when I said live, i meant recorded live as opposed to programmed... do you think the consumer would know the difference...?

you see what have here is a HATER. this person doesnt want to look in the mirror and see that his music and probably more important, his life suck. hating on people he has never met or plans on meeting is his MO and making music that his mother would love.

so, examine this man, learn his ways, and make sure that you dont do anything he does....

thank you....

@ katastrophe777

There are Horns, Piano and Vibraphone. (the tom roll may just be a loop or electronic drums or it could possibly be live)

these sounds are most likely from a keyboard, but im sure most cant notice whether or not they are.

They are all from the Korg triton. They still use that keyboard to death.

I'm not sure how they continue to get away with using those cheezy, unrealistic sounds.

because they make the cheezy sounds turn into cheese (money).

troup you do realize that the intent may be to not have realistic sounds?

remember the dx7? the keyboard used ALL over madonna's music in the 80s (amongst others)? those sounds were unbelievably unrealistic. In the 70s producers knew what real guitars pianos and percussion sounded like. but why did that all of the sudden stop in the 80s? Instead of using the expensive keyboards and drums in their studios they decided to use a fake piano from the dx, instead of using their pearl or ludwig drum kit, they used a linndrum. its for a different effect troup. you should know that.

its about the songggggggggg not the beat

do u realize how bland/wack the empire state beat is?
would u even play it without te alicia keys hook?

its about the song

exactly...as much as i dont like the beats on BP3...i like the album because the songs are good....it's not many "bangers".....but good songs and a good overall theme....

I beg to differ Troup.....THIS is the wackest beat on the album.

That was cool for the 80's. Now it just sounds cheap and cheesy.

Justify it all you want...you know this joint sounds cheap and cheesy. I love the song for what it says...but the beat sounds really amateur and fruity loop-ish.

lol...somebody did the inverse phase trick to take the vocals out of that joint.

And i rather like the Swizz joint...i thought it was a creative use of the sample.

empire state doa and ambitious is the only songs i like umm mybe the intro also maybe

Oddly enough the only beat I didn't really feel on the album was Haters, which many of you are being! Pharrell uses those synth like instruments as a stylistic choice, which I personally love--I think he pulls it off great and it works for the song. Sound choice is a very, very subjective thing.

yall trippin all the beats were good except Venus vs. Mars.

man i can't believe Timbaland produced that I usually like his beats

what happend to if it sounds good it is good. I personally love the triton sound. its part of why i dont think ill ever let my trinity go. yeah its not the most realistic sound bank available but it does sound good.

I feel "So Ambitious" is one of the better tracks on the album. This track was heart felt on Jay-z and Pharrel parts. The track wasn't the traditional 16 bar (based on my count). The hook is dope "OH WELL." The horns was crazy. My favorite track.

“We did it all by phone,” Williams said. “One-hundred percent. Phone and e-mail. I’ve never done that before in my life. I just sent him the joint, ’cause he beat me up for the whole album. He was just kinda like, ‘I need something to really tell a story.’ And I was like, ‘OK.’ And I sent him this track. I said, ‘I’m sending you clouds with 808s [drums] under it.’ There’s just clouds, and it’s expansive. You can just speak. It’s a blank canvas. Then I sent him the hook and played it for him, and he lost his mind.” Williams said the song was made the day Jay-Z was mastering his album, and he believes the rapper held off on completing his album until he finished the song. The result, according to Williams, is another classic. “[Just] the attack on it,” he said of the song. “Ferocious.”
