Would 50 have sold as many records. Personally I dont think so. He's embraced by Eminem's fan base which translates into millions of records sold. Put him on Murder Inc or Columbia and he's lucky to go double platinum.

No if shady didnt want him he'll be in the same position he was months before he started talking to shady and thatll be no one wants his ass.

If eminem wouldn't have signed 50 cent nobody wouldve ever came near 50 cent and he'd probably be dead right now. Eminem saved 50 Cent.

50 cents been around a while now, its only cause he got shot that u're hearing from him again... a hip hop / rapper gettin shot boosts sales a good 50%. Now people are tryin to dub him as the next tu-pac.... yeah right.... they said the same about ja-rule:rolleyes: .

The kid is nice. My point is talent alone does not translate into record sales. I got all his gritty stuff b4 dre commercialized him.

Put it like this if 50 wast on shady he might of not sold what he did but he would of still not flop. hey where was shaq and Kobie before phill jackson and so on with anything thats about numbers. But i will tell ya this the hood would still love 50 no matter what. All 50 did by signing to shady was get the white people to open there eyes early about him. Nothing more nothing lest. I dont think if 50 sign or didnt sign with shady the hood would feel any different cause 50 didnt come out of no where when he sign to shady 50 was on the streets working the mix tapes. Now check out every mix tape now everybody wanna remake a song. no more 16 bars or 20 bars or the so called 1000 bars. 50 has really change alot in music and no matter if yall look at as good or bad thing its still a change. I feel 50 gave rappers who do have the money for beats a chance to get in the game as long as they are willing to work for it.

without eminem (and dre), 50 is just another rapper basically

he doesnt have the talent to separate himself from the pack, but yeh he got shot and hes a thug so hes marketable...

hed be pushing more units cause he was shot without shady but nothin like what hes doin now

yeah he might not got famous in the suburban community (please enough with the white shyt, I live in the "hood" and have been known of 50 way before he even initiated any sort of talks with Em) but before he blew Id hear people driving round here thumping 50 mixtapes all the time or walk down the street and hear kids on the corner gettin wild to 50. I cant vouch for other areas but round here 50 had a huge fanbase before he got famous.

Without Em, 50 will still be living in his Grandma's basement. He will still be doing mix tapes but that ish dont pay no bills.

JPL you said the magic word "mixtapes." I said records not mixtapes. You dont get royalties from mixtapes. I am beyond the boom bap stage of hip hop. I am looking at it from a business perspective which means records sold. I'm all about the cake.
What's the name of 50 cents album
"get rich or die tryin"
see it's all about the dough in the hood-all a mixtape can do is give an artist some exposure.
JPL give me a break. Albany's so called hood is a joke.

50 is a simple marketing tool for the new M&M Record Label full stop. ok, he was around doing mix tapes for a while, some of which are good, but at the end of the day hes' just another rapper on MTV. Nothing new nothing special, just hype with blonde hair behind him. I saw him in an interview the other day and he didn't come across as 'the next tu-pac' more like a shy nigger who aint used to beign interviewed, pure yes and no answers, didn't even play to the camera. The rap world needs a kick start, I'm tired of hearin the same shiit on MTV base. Looking for the next Pac come off it! Pac is dead, hes a good dead rap artist that everyone keeps reviving, word for word Biggie Smalls was better.... no argument, he just was. Beat for beat, Pac holds it and 50 cent aint nothin compared to either... Thank you.

Peace
RIP BIG

Pac could make tight songs but he couldnt freestyle. I remember him Spitting in Brooklyn with Big and Snoop. Pac was spitting some writtens. Pac may be the best of all time but I gotta give credit where credit is due. 50 would rip Pac in any non song formatted rap.C'mon 50's got some of the best hooks ever written.(Not those JA Rule hooks)B4 you Judge 50, you got to listen to those mixtape CD's that got him the deal. He destroyed at least3 CD's.

You are sadly mistaken right here. Pac was crazy off the head. He had some **** on a makaveli bootleg where he flowed drunk off the head and that **** was fire. He went off the head on that scarface **** homies and thugs too. The ni**a was nice.

I aint judgin 50 but..... shiiiit I aint even gonna comment on that..... I'ma jus laugh... hahahahahahahaha. And no Pac isn't and wasn't the greatest of all time. You need to read up on Rap and the origins of hip hop. Best of all time... please.... He was good. not the best. If Rakim/BIG had the same coverage then you'd be chattin bout them.... Step off your MTV. I was into pac myself, till I heard words from the man he was dissin constantly.. Freestlye, Big would cut him up, and word for word he did. As Public Enemy say, 'DON'T BELIVE THE HYPE!'.

ur rite about 50, he doesnt interview well, and he isnt the next pac....

anyways, about the greatest of all time...anyone who thinks g.o.a.t. equals just good flow and a nice rhyme pattern is just plain wrong.

Pac is a good candidate for the g.o.a.t. not because he was the best lyricist (hes a very underrated lyricist btw, anyone who says otherwise didnt give anything off makaveli a listen) or because he could freestyle better than supernatural (who? exactly), but because of his effect on the culture and ability to evoke emotion in millions.

sorry to turn this into a generic `pac is da best` thread but it was obviously headed in that direction given the last few posts

`step off your mtv if big/rakim had the same coverage youd be writing about them`

..but they didnt because they couldnt evoke as much emotion.... anyways coverage has little to do with it.

Theres coverage because people are interested, not the other way around... the media panders to people's interests when they feel a particular artists, it doesnt lead the way

biggie= v talented, but not the g.o.a.t. , he was too dull/lacked the flair, and people couldnt connect in the same way

Bill russell has more titles than mike, wilt was more dominant, but mj is the goat, because of things off the court... its a similar thing.. history has little to do with it, name me an old skool candidate for g.o.a.t.

I repeat, 'Don't belive the hype'. I see what u sayin bout the crowd ability thing, but u still miss the point. BIGGIE was one ugly fat motherf*ucker therefore harder to market.... Rakim had/has the crowd hype thing going on but he stays 'above' all that hype bull, G.O.A.T is undetermined, Pac is definately a runner but the last hurdle is too high and he can't jump it... tough sh*it. As said I was all Tu - Pac before and around the time Biggie sorted him out, don't get me wrong, I've got nuff respect for the dude, I just can't stand it when people constantly big him up over a supreme lyricist like Biggie. Not forgettin that Big was killed in his prime and only had three albums. Whereas Pac seems to be a martr for digtalization meaning that his voice will always be heard.... don't even tell me that you rekon hes' still alive..lol... G.O.A.T is too wishy washy. What makes a great rapper? Tu-Pac has no variation. He tires too easy, the same old sh*it. One Pac tune could merge into a next. No creativity, same old subject.... To all Pac fans.... MOVE ON!

lol, pacs alive in cuba we all know that. Seriously though, when did big sort him out? as far as I know, there a few cryptic disses and an alleged bootleg diss, but no real `sorting out`...

I see ur pts man, but to me pac=a better candidate for the goat despite him not being the technically best m.c.

i hate to see another biggie vs pac debate....two great men lost because hate and not being able to see eye to eye like we cant right now.
