Good info Jon_B! Thanks for the link.

NoVA, how did you lose 50 beats off of your Fantom? Accidental delete, power failure?

accidental delete. Everything went back to the factory presets which cleared the entire memory user bank. So I lost all of my sounds too that I programmed lol.

my computer crashed a couple months ago and i couldn't get another laptop...im just recently(yesterday) starting to make beats again since the summer time....dat shyt is the worst

Hey, How many of you have ever created a whole bunch of tracks , new or old, and put them on a Cd, and actually Lost them, or how many of you created new beats and your system crashed, and you lost all of your work. This happened tlo me yesterday, I acidentlly deleted a folder off of my hard-drive, USB and now 50 something tracks are forever gone, how can I cope with this???

man i understand what u are going through... i just make up for it and try to produce better than the old ones... i think of it as a new era that has came

this happened to the zip discs i was using in my mpc2kxl. not i'm afraid to use the machine at all. now that is sadness infinite.

So I lost about 50 beats but I still have the tracked out files but they are empty of the graphic information. They still play but without sound. I used Reason 4 and Live 7 to make them. I lost them by way of system restore. Wiped the drive clean, supposedly. Is there a way to rebuild the graphics. When I had Magix it had that feature.

For me it was a good thing because when i reinstalled my softwares and started making beats agian, the quality of what i was making had improved. I also lost alot of raps i had on word but the same goes for the quality of them now.

Man.. I'd be pretty upset. Hasn't happened to me. Sure hope it never does either.

I've heard on plenty occasions back up everything and do so often.

damn this sycks it happened to me about a year ago, id recorded a bunch of live mixes of me messin around with reason and such, called it the mixes, by the janitors (i put it out on a torrent, but i lost the originals, so i post that in vain in case someone out there downloaded them haah) but i just moved on it felt like a big deal, but oh well

haha all i can say is...if your beats are important always have a backup copy of each beat....i put every single beat on my external hard drive incase anything would ever happen.

I save them all online now. Online storage is getting cheaper and cheaper.

This is funny cuz I recently jsut lost ALL 200 of my beats on my external hard drive cuz that joint crashed.. it sucked but in the long run I felt everything happens for a reason Cuz all my tracks went up ten fold

At the moment, I keep things that I don't trust putting to a hard drive onto data cdr's and put away in a case (labeled of course so I don't have to search through them for hours figuring out what is what). I hope to have a raid array set up eventually where I can have a proper backup of my data, but that'll probably have to wait until I have a bigger apartment with the space to set things up proper.

Yeah I have most of my important vst's and sampels burned on DVD's but the only downside is that those do not last very long.
