three years have almost pased, and this post will remain true for many years to come.

being a newbie myself, I'll try to follow this commandments, specially the part to resist the urge to buy stuff I don't actually need.

Great post! Not sure if yall saw this, but there is a good post on the Dubspot blog about how to prevent hearing loss. gonna have to google it (I'm new, so I can't post links).

 I'm not a newbie, but that is something that I forget about all the time.
 
I was just thinking about the process of making sales and thought networking would be a good topic to bring up. I've been producing music for quite sometime now and I've made a living in corporate sales for even longer. So, business networking is something that I am pretty familiar with.
I will start by stating the obvious. Most of the people that you meet you will never see or hear from again unless you are in the same social circle or you have a method for staying in touch with them. Most professionals will not take you seriously the first, second, third or fourth time they meet you. Even if they take you seriously, it doesn't mean that your getting a deal. It just means that you're networking.

Try not to get discouraged, though. Networking can be the most powerful tool in your studio and, when used properly, will improve your business. Here are some 5 Tips you should keep in mind when networking.


1. The purpose is to let others know that your business exist and it serves a purpose. Staying focused on that purpose will help keep you consistent in your endeavors.

2. Become positively involved in your community. You'll be surprised at how many of your neighbors will help you out. Especially when you're known as a positive influence in the community. Not only that, but there are much greater rewards that you get when stepping outside of yourself to be involved in something none selfish.

3.Talk to everyone and I mean everyone. Don't discriminate when it comes to networking. Sure, you'll meet a bunch of self centered jerks but that's okay. Remember tip #1.
4. Remember that you are networking with people that want to network with you. So, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, stay in touch with them when you find them. Get organized enough to store their contact info in a safe place and contact them every so often to see what they have going one and how you can become involved.

5. Become a good listener. This will help you to contribute to their ideas which makes for better conversation. Good conversation gets you invited to new places where you can meet new people.
