Thank you. I'm a newb so it's important that I learn now how to keep from pissing all of you off. :D

This defiantly gave me a an idea on how to be a good producer, especially because i can think of 3 things listed on there where in the do not area, which i do.

this was great advice!! im a newb and it really helps, thanks!

Thank You for the kind responses everyone....

those false prophets really keep it hard for me to be humble, going to guitar center is like having teeth pulled sometimes haha

  • Thou Shalt “READ THY MANUALS”
It NEVER ceases to amaze me, how many people come to forums like these asking for answers to complex questions that are covered DIRECTLY IN THE MANUAL! Why on earth would you totally disregard the knowledge given to you by the ENGINEERS, you know, the people that MADE THE DAMN DEVICE! I know that some manuals can be VERY difficult to read but you are gonna have to just “suck it up” and RE-READ it as many times as it takes for you to UNDERSTAND it. Sure, someone will eventually SPOONFEED you the answer if you ask nicely enough but why take someones word for it when the answer is ALREADY GIVEN TO YOU. Stop being so DAMN LAZY and USE the materials at your disposal
Yeah, I broadly agree with all the commandments and I do live by them !
The manual one is the hardest though, because sometimes one needs a pointer in one's plain language to actually make sense of what the manual says. At times they're really confusing and I suspect that's why people have such a hard time with them and try to look for a simpler alternative.

I completely agree! This is my 1st post. This is also one of many places I've encountered in my quest. Some sites discourage 'lurking', if you will, but READING Is FUNDAMENTAL!

nice read big brother !

I think the two most important ones are
Thou Shalt “READ THY MANUALS”
Thou Shalt “RESEARCH THY GEAR BEFORE BUYING”

the two i probably do the most and will always do are
Thou Shalt “CONTINUALLY SEEK KNOWLEDGE”
Thou Shalt “REMAIN HUMBLE”

That's exactly what I was thinking. I definitely need to devote some more time to all these manuals I have. And I'm looking into getting some new gear right now, been researching for a few days so far.

Very nicely put, I especially agree on the music shop issue, go to the store knowing what you want!

This is absolute truth. I love it. Especially about your ears...Let me repeat that….WITHOUT YOUR EARS THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR A MUSIC INDUSTRY BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE NO MUSIC……..Only Silence..
only silence..heh

I'm utterly new as well. Hardware has always intimidated me. It's good to see something like this post first thing upon joining a forum of this kind.
