I got a friend who, I'm pretty sure, has broken every single one of those.

wish i woulda had this list when i started out.

Oh well. Some of the best knowledge is learned by trial and error.

Amazing stuff you got going there, well hope to work with some of yall later on in the future, cheers

Couldn't agree more. Dogged persistence and reliability is what you need, particularly if you're going to be producing for other people. We've had occasions in our studio where people have lost work, or encountered problem after problem with computers, equipment, instruments - anything and everything going wrong, but keeping a cool head and grinding through problems wins their respect and support, and gets you a solid product in the end.

Thanks for posting this...im a beginner myself and this is good to know..

Perfectly Said... Impressive, Thou has Blessed thy fellow FP mates with this Gracious Message... God Bless.

Hear Hear! Great post, I'm a new- (ish) be to music production, & a newbie to this site, and can't reiterate the point of reading your manuals/ books enough. I find to may people asking silly questions such as "can i remix in Ableton" or "I have an Mpc 2000xl and was wondering how you load sound into it" etc, etc...
People are alway will to help, advise and share Knowledge but Ultimately it starts with YOU. It take time, dedication and hard work especially when starting off so come on people put in the groundwork! cheers.

BULLSEYE....you really put the nail in the coffin on that one, you couldn't have made it any more clearer.....big thanks

So, I been here before but am basically a 'newbie' in that I got side tracked with life and only just recently got serious about my music again... and I read the whole thing. Good common sense advice. :-)

  • Thou Shalt “LEARN ABOUT MIDI”
“MIDI” is the language in which just about ALL music production equipment made within the last 20 years speaks! It is IMPERATIVE that you learn as much about MIDI as possible. Learn what it does and how it works. If you DON’T have a good grasp of how MIDI works, I suggest you DON’T BUY A DAMN THING! Purchasing Music production equipment without a basic knowledge of MIDI is like an American being dropped off in Russia and trying to communicate with the locals. You MUST know MIDI because I guarantee you that at some point in your budding production career you WILL have to deal with it. Plain and Simple

Hi,

I am new here and was wondering where I can find information regarding MIDI?

ILike it loud, Google it, you have the power of the internet theres a wealth of information on Midi. Also Paul white, who is the editor of sound on sound magazine has afew decent books on midi, google him.

Hope this helps.
