I have a newb question. I've just purchased a turntable to take my mixing/producing of beats to the next level. I understand that I need a vinyl record. What vinyl should i buy? does it matter how expensive or what artist it is? how many should i buy?

I just have one quick question, i recently purchased an akai mpc 500. I connected the usb cord to my computer and I still cannot get it to recognize the mpc as a device. I have windows vista, does that matter?
