headphones during production <> finished tune is then played on several sets of speakers in-house(budget harman/kardon on pc, room-mates bose on pc, downstairs stereo) <> i have heard that production on headphones is a big no-no but i disagree <> PROTECT YOUR EARS DEFINITELY
 
Well, I'm new here (and to the world of production at large). In the midst of doing my research for the equipment I'm going to need led me here, and this thread alone convinced me to start an account here. Y'all clearly know what you're doing and this is the atmosphere I need to be in. Be prepared to see a lot of me here in the future.

That should be first and is what can make or break you sometimes.

open up to other artist you work with ideas and let them have some say so.
Knowledge....perfect the craft..research..research..and more research.
Learn your monitors,learn your room, learn your DAW.
STOP COPYING - get out the box..(how do i get that timberland or dre drum sound in my mix?)
And one month later,after one book and a couple gear slut threads...they say they can mix and master..

Just signed up on this site 15mins ago... This is exactly what I needed.. Im going to be a great producer in the future just need more knowledge .. hardware..software.. what my PC needs to run without interruption.. anyone who take pride in helping aspiring producers please message me... Lord knows I would appreciate it!!!
