Very good advice man. Alot of people get caught up on spending thier money on a whole bunch of gear and then have no clue on how to use it. You all know that guy that pratically lived at guitar center talking about the next new best thing. Good production can be done with very little $. I currently do all my work with Logic express (Which im hoping to upgrade soon) Stanton tables, Motif Rack (bought used on ebay) M-Audio Controller and a Alexis Mixer. Very amatuer operation but you wouldnt be able to tell listening. So Use what you got to the fullest and then look to upgrade.

This is swift and vital...I will abide by these "commandments" 162961_185585158137329_100000575377689_568228_4850687_n.webp

Whats up guys. I just started making beats on my laptop so a buddy of mine could put down some lyrics in the studio we have at our college. I just wanted to get some feedback on what yall think a good beat making software is. I am currently using FL Studio XXL Producer Edition 9 and I think it is pretty awesome. Im not really sure how I feel about recording in it though. Should I use Audition to do my recordings so I can tinker with the vocals? Thanks.

this was both entertaining and smart. but the font color...i would've went a different route. lol. still, bravo man. very well writ.

i have always wanted to get into MIDI but i don't know where to start. what kind of midi software and/or hardware might i use to gain a better understanding?

yo.. much love. on some real ish.. this is gonna take alot of work.. i can't give up.. that simple.. its like life or death.. i have to think like that or else i get so lazy yall its not even funny.. ill open up reason mess around a little and close the program cuz i won't understand anything. well this was my first step now im onto the manual part then learning midi. but ofcourse ill stick around and read more threads because of so much knowledge being spreaded.

Links?

Thank you. I am slightly new to the production game and these tips will help me a lot. I am only using software right now, because I am broke, but when I have the money to buy hardware I will definitely research it first now. I know this is an old thread, but it is the first one on the Getting Started page. So, to help out all of us "newbies" you think you could post some links to sites where we can research each of these topics?

Well I'm going to music production hell I guess. Never to late to repent I hope.....

Newbie #54723852302572 reporting. Good read though. I've followed most of these commandments...maybe this time I'll listen to all 10 of them.
