This is all good. 'Read thy Manuals'. Haha. Mackie write a great manual...

ive now read the "newbs commandments" as insightful as it was i am trying to find some useful advice on buying equipment, working on a relatively tight budget and having only used Reason and FL before id love somebody to advise me on what to buy for the "next step". Ive had alot of people try to convince me that the holy grail is an MPC, a keyboard, Mac thousands of wires and much more money but is all of this essential for just making beats in my spare time? i recently discovered Akai's MPK25 would this be a worthwhile investment and how easy to use for a newcommer is it? is there anything of a similar price range with the same sort of spec?

As im aware i am no doubt flooding this forum with the question a million people have already asked but i cant seem to find the answers im looking for, or the answers arent informative enough to actually help? all answers would be greatly recieved and im sure helpful.

Many Thanks

Tommy B

i feel the major problem with cats coming up this days is that they enter the game thinking they know it all. That is why i think this threads are important so people start understanding there is always something you do not know yet

thanks for the thread, im' a newb. First post!

Tommy,I've got Ableton Live 8 which I like a lot, you can make beats on it Tommy. It's easy to use. Comes with tutorials as well. But Tommy, you should start your question in a new thread posting. PEace.

Best thing I have ever read. More important to me then the bible.

There needs to be rules, expectations and do’s and dont’s in everything we do and blogging is no exception.

I've been guilty, most of all, of the "protect your hearing" bit. I've never worked at home on a pair of monitors and sometimes in the heat of the moment I've blasted myself. After the random pulses and beach sounds started playing in my ears I learned better!

It's interesting that this is targeted towards newbies, many of whom are younger people by nature. 4-10 are just good sound life skills.

Im a newbie on this forum :)
This seems like a great list of to do's if you seriously wanna be a producer.
I learned most of that stuff through mistakes but its cool to have a list
Thanks :)

I wonder how many newbies know that they'll be involved with creating music for the rest of their lives, right now. If this sounds like you then click here.

I now feel ashamed about my previous(and first) "Trouble getting my MIDI controller to work" thread. I won't do it again - I swear!

Follow these commandments newbies. Nothing will kill your dreams faster than ignoring these commandments. This is my favorite forum. I'm always looking for people to work with here, as I'm a Music Producer by profession. Feel feel to check out my music here if you'd like.

Shout out to all new Future Producers : )
