Everybody on FP will already check it out. Its everybody else he gotta worry about.

Lol @ 37 people peepin this thread. This is the most I've ever seen.

And if Troup turns round to me and says "YOUR MAD". Then i will laugh my head off, coz how I can be mad at someone who is in the same career position as me. Right at the bottom!

Anyway you do it your gonna rely on other people in this industry. Hell, how do you think your site is gonna take off without people actually going there.

This 1 post has almost 4,000 views.

Your show is ahead of its time along with your idea.

I'd give it atleast 3 more years.

I am not checking out industrysound.I just want to know if he is selling his equipment.

I see chasing placements as a gigantic waste of time, that's all.

It's like fighting to get on the Titanic...AFTER IT HAS THE BIG ASS HOLE IN THE SIDE.

You see the boat taking on water. You see the gigantic hole in the side. You SEE people jumping ship...

But all you can see is the fact that it's still moving...it MIGHT NOT sink. Ooh look at all that fancy stuff on the boat. It's the biggest, grandest boat in the world...IT CAN'T SINK!!

Yes, you'll get 200 miles in a few hours on that huge luxury ship, but at the end of those few hours, you're gonna sink to the bottom right along with it...

Or, you can get your ass in a lifeboat and ROW. Yes, it'll be harder work. Yes it'll take you a longer time to cover the same amount of ground. But eventually you WILL reach America...without taking a detour to the bottom of the ocean.

That's how I see things.

I wasn't disagreeing with your view of the industry.

+

I'm just saying you should respect other people's grind.

+

Especially when you were on the same exact grind in the past.

Troup you gotta understand that its not just 'what you say' that gets people mad... its 'how you say it'. You are obviously completely and utterly unaware that you have a real lack of social interaction skills. You constantly come off as 'arrogant' and a 'know it all'. Its just the way you are and i really dont think you know it.

I kinda feel sorry for you... the way you come across is obviously something that you cant control. You constantly act like you have something over EVERYBODY else. When in reality you dont and YOU (i repeat YOU) know this deep down.

You are exactly like every other 'wanna be producer' on this forum. EXACTLY the same. You just TALK like your something better!

The reality is that your music is simply not good enough to get placements and THATS IT. Everyone with ears in there head can know this... they just have to simply listen to your music. Its just not good enough and you know it. Thats why your looking for other avenues to make money i.e. your new website thing.

I would never usually be this brutally honest but its only because of your attitude that im saying it. You always say that the music business is more about business than music. Well ive got news for you sunshine... its also about how you deal with situations and how you interact with people. Im afraid you fall VERY short on this.

You need to seriously take a GOOD LONG LOOK at the way you interact with people and your general attitude.

Again i only say this coz ive genuinely never come across a person who is completely and utterly oblivious to to both 'reality' and 'how they come across' in all my life.

I've always said there's no difference between me and everybody else on this board, and that we're all in the same position, striving for the same thing...success with our music...whatever our individual definitions of success happen to be.

You talk about how I come across in real life...do you realize that you've never met me IN REAL LIFE, and that the innernets IS NOT REAL LIFE??

It's virtual.

A few FP members have met me in real life. Ask em how I come across.

I have excellent relations with every single person I've done business with...music industry or otherwise.

The only problem I see here, is people's insecurity. Stop being a b*tch and being so concerned with what someone else is doing, and concentrate on what you're doing...

Because to be quite honest with you, the people that have them some BUSINESS TO ATTEND TO, don't have a problem with me...because their too busy handling their business, to be concerned with HOW ANOTHER MAN SAYS THINGS.

So you should PROBABLY TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK at which person you are, and stop letting what another man decides to do with his life, career and pursuits affect you.

But I guess i probably said that wrong too.

I somewhat agree with troup, when he says that chasing placements is a big waste of time because it is.Knowing the shape that the industry is in right now, it makes no sense to put all your hope in the major label system, but that does not mean that you cant use placements as a marketing tool. If i was troup, I use those placements to further my career even though I wouldn't rely on them. I will use those placements to have some sort of discography and also help build my brand, aswell as to help me in other side ventures i choose to pursue.

Well since people that are actually doing things are too busy to argue with you, if your one of those people, why do YOU find time to make something to argue about, and then continually tell everyone that your right and they're wrong? Same thing you say about others applies for you..

And if you were being literal with that, YOU are on FP all the time. So if other people have time to argue because they aren't doing 'business' if you are, why are you on here arguing?

Damn 18 pages...lol...I obviously haven't read this entire thread, but Troup, if you decide to leave music, then I wish you good luck with your future ventures man.

Honestly, if you have as many connections as you claim, then it either comes down to your music or the strength of those connects. If those connects are tight, then it has to be the music.

If I could make one suggestion to you, it would be to simplify. Some of your **** is just way too cluttered to easily place a vocal over it. That would be my one suggestion to you, musically.

Anyway, good luck bro

Here's the thing. Those placements aren't free. Those placements include signing a publishing deal with someone, for a crazy percentage of my rights, for anywhere between 3-5 years.

So yeah, I got a placement. $3000 in the pocket...BUT AT WHAT COST???

Now any piece of money that I make off my music in the next 3-5 years, 50% of that automatically goes to the person that I had to sign to, in order to get that first placement....WHETHER OR NOT THEY DID ANY WORK TO GET ME ANY FUTURE WORK.

So that's why I turned down 2 such offers of that nature, and have chosen not to pursue those avenues.

I know people with publishing deals who are regretting them right now...people who haven't released a record yet, and people who have released big records.

So it was just a personal choice.

...if IndustrySound.com does not succeed in the way that I want it to.

Yes I said it.

IndustrySound.com is the culmination of 19 years of studying and knowledge of the music industry. I'm a freaking walking encyclopedia of music knowledge and music industry business practices/trends since 1990 (when I was 3).

Money wise, I'm good for about a year of not working. But at some point, I have to say "okay, this isn't working, I need to switch gears to build a true career".

Everybody has that "stopping point". IndustrySound.com is mine.

If it doesn't work, then I'm out the music game. I'll be selling all of my equipment, and it'll be a wrap.

This venture is everything that I know about EVERYTHING. It's everything I love, and it's everything that I am.

I've never set any drop dead date like this before, but this is it.

Don't do that...

If you give up on 19 years of knowledge..

If anything, stay in music, but take a different route.

I'm on FP from 9am to 5pm...working hours.

again...why is my statement about my pursuits, something that got your panties all crunchy?

Me, I agree with SoulCentric...

Major Label placements don't seem to be a waste of time because there will be major releases in the future. How much energy you put into trying to get those placements is where the waste of time comes in. You make a song, you try to get it placed through the resources you have and then you go and get some fried chicken. I don't know if giving up completed on trying to get a song placed is the good thing to do, it's hella frustrating and probably seems like winning the lottery but somebody wins the lottery too...

It doesn't really "hurt" to try to do everything you can with your music... if you have the time and energy to. If you spend so much time on it that it's affecting your quality of life and it upsets you... then you're spending too much time on it and it's overkill.

Some foolish people that never get placements will say "That Rome dude isn't hungry enough"... maybe they're right but I will never get to point where I'm pissed about something not happening as fast as I want it too.... because I don't really control any of it anyway, so it's not going to control me. I can't make anybody take my beats and I can't make anybody visit and buy anything from my website... I learned that when I was at about 6,000 posts, lol. What a great day that was and what a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. Now I make music with much more freedom. I'm still round nis b-yatch in that same old boat - so nobody can really talk ish about me because pretty much... a lot of people will still be on this boat for a long time.

Oh and that TITANIC reference with the people jumping off, lol... I differ in opinion. I'd jump on that TITANIC with the hole in the side and the Captain KTFO and grab everything I can and THEN jump right back off... some of those jewels and memorabilia will probably turn out to be worth something one day... grab and go is the name of the game. He who grabs the most ish, looks the best on paper.

Placements are just a music biz resume'... that's how I look at it. Anything that's on it... is better than nothing.

That Ptone dude is saying some ish that's on point...

but at the end of the day, NONE of us are Troup, we don't live in Cinncinnati, we don't have an IT background, we don't own a Meko, ... we're just not him so I have to wonder why one of the most over used Hip Hop catch phrases doesn't apply to Troup... but I will use it one mo gen... Troup, do you.
