Why are you talking down to dudes who are "chasing placements"? Just cus you read rich dad poor dad and have a business plan, it doesnt mean you are better than anyone.

Obviously you were once in the same exact spot as the people you are talking down to...

lmfaooo at bringing up Rich Dad Poor Dad.....def a book worth reading

"I could be a millionaire if I wanted to, I just don't want to!!"

Come on. Why even bother making statements like that? You obviously have no intention of providing any proof.

WHO SAID THAT??? I said I've turned down opportunities that other people would kill for, because they didn't line up with my goals and priorities.

Why is that an argument?

Me signing a publishing deal for 3-5 years and 70% of my publishing, is contrary to the things that I want to accomplish. It would really set me back about 3-5 years. So why would I take that?

"
Some of the things I read from you really make me question why you think you're the authority on the music industry? You want everyone to treat your opinions as gospel truth.

You wouldn't take finance advice from a homeless accountant. This is no different.

No I don't. I want people to be SMART, and not be fooled by the smoke and mirrors. I want people to educate themselves about this BUSINESS OF MUSIC, so that THEY are the ones reaping the benefits of their hard work, not someone else who was more business savvy.

What's so wrong with that? Why does that make people so mad?

If thats true, its because of the way you do it. Its like somebody beating a dude thats going to prison half to death and saying "I want you to learn what its like going in there so really Im just helping you," very different but same thing, pretty much you come off like a dick and act like your better than everybody else. And not only that, most of the time you actually diss these people your 'trying to help' by saying they dont know what they're talking about and they want this and that when you don't know anything. And saying people here would suck dick to have your opportunites, those are basically the same people your 'helping' lol so you pretty much reverse your 'helping' someone.

lol IM not getting mad that you're saying this stuff, its just annoying when you make it seem like your Gods gift to producing or something. And the reason people dont listen to you is because YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BACK WHAT YOUR SAYING UP. You haven't done ish with your music. Yeah of course you say you've had opportunites that people here would suck dick to have, but you have nothing to show for it. You haven't landed your music on ANYTHING. NOBODY knows you except on FP. And I know your gonna take what I'm saying and turn it into something else, but its whatever. Thats the truth and you know it. A few people on here are way further with their music that you've ever been and probably ever will be, yet you talk like your have more knowledge and could put those people to shame 'if you wanted to.'

What I'm saying is, ok your quitting, we get it.. this means you have even less chance of doing anything with your music, so hopefully we don't have to hear about how you know everything and every body else's opinion is wrong.

If YOU think i'm God's gift to producing, then that's on you...But I never SAID NOR IMPLIED THAT.

I haven't done ish with my music. That's funny. If that makes you feel better, then u continue to think that.

Nobody knows me except for on FP? lol...that's even funnier. Cuz when I got my ass off the plane in Phoenix at One Stop last year, a whole bunch of people knew who I was.

But again...If it makes you feel better, please continue to think that.

There are a few people on FP who are further along in their music pursuits than I am...you're absolutely right. And I couldn't be happier for those people, and I support them. I go out and buy music that I DON'T EVEN LIKE (Pussycat Dolls, Lil Wayne), just to support those people.

And I never said that I was definitely quitting. Where'd u get that from?

See this is the fundamental problem with your thinking.

Music isn't about business plans and earning forecasts. It's not accountancy where time in equals money out.

If you really love it you'll do it anyway and if you're any good you'll find a way to make it work. There is always a need for good music and quality is rewarded accordingly.

You might not get what you want but you will always get what you deserve.

People on here sometimes forget that music is still an art form and is a creative field no matter how it is presented on TV.

You all need to be honest with yourself's about why you started making music.

Troup why did YOU start?

You're right...Music isn't about any of those things. But THE MUSIC BUSINESS IS.

Making records is THE MUSIC BUSINESS. Placements are THE MUSIC BUSINESS. SELLING MUSIC IS THE MUSIC BUSINESS.

If it was just all about the love, then people would just stay in their bedrooms with their headphones on. If it were just about the love, people would just keep singing in church.

People go into the studio TO MAKE RECORDS TO MAKE MONEY. There is NOBODY ON THIS PLANET who has spent money to record a song, and has just kept that music to themselves.

Everybody who is on PMP, who's sending out beat CD's, who's hitting up A&R's and artists...THEY AREN'T DOING IT FOR THE LOVE. THEY ARE DOING IT TO MAKE MONEY. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE MAKE RECORDS FOR...TO MAKE MONEY.

That's the business of music.

Your post sounds VERY naive.

People make music because they love it. People make RECORDS to make money. Don't get that twisted.

I see chasing placements as a gigantic waste of time, that's all.

It's like fighting to get on the Titanic...AFTER IT HAS THE BIG ASS HOLE IN THE SIDE.

You see the boat taking on water. You see the gigantic hole in the side. You SEE people jumping ship...

But all you can see is the fact that it's still moving...it MIGHT NOT sink. Ooh look at all that fancy stuff on the boat. It's the biggest, grandest boat in the world...IT CAN'T SINK!!

Yes, you'll get 200 miles in a few hours on that huge luxury ship, but at the end of those few hours, you're gonna sink to the bottom right along with it...

Or, you can get your ass in a lifeboat and ROW. Yes, it'll be harder work. Yes it'll take you a longer time to cover the same amount of ground. But eventually you WILL reach America...without taking a detour to the bottom of the ocean.

That's how I see things.

Man..I make a post about my personal decision to end my music pursuits if my next venture does not pan out the way that I want it to, and people get MAD.

People seriously have gotten MAD because I made a post about a decision that I'M making.

I'm just still very confused what about that post made people MAD.

People are mad cuz your acting like your better than everyone else. People tell you to not quit, say you'll be back because you can't quit, then people ask why your quitting and you start saying how you've done this n that that none of us have ever or probably will ever do, thats when people get mad. And nobody is even mad, its just your talking ish and have nothing to back it up.

You remind me of a rapper who puts out a song and people say "Im not really feeling this" the rapper says "Im the hottest rapper out right now, this song is hot, nobody comes close to me right nowyall just hating." Your that guy right now.

And lol at people being mad because you posted a decision. Nobody is mad at that fam. What you think because you're talking about quitting if this website doesn't work that people are getting mad? lmao

You're right...Music isn't about any of those things. But THE MUSIC BUSINESS IS.

Without music there'd be no industry. It's still about the song whether you like it or not, any A&R will tell you that.

Selling is for salespeople. Creative people should concentrate on being creative and perfecting their craft, if you're good people will listen and the rewards will come.

Anyone who gets into a creative field focused on money is in for a rude surprise. Music is not IT, it's not accountancy, it's not molecular science. If you're not genuine it will show in your music and people will see through you.. you'll just end up spinning your wheels but getting nowhere.

Look at any successful musician. These people really love what they do. They do it because they can't see themselves doing anything else. They're not (generally) doctors or lawyers who felt like a change in career and thought:

"well hey I can start a studio for 10g and be a producer! I mean i've always listened to records, how hard can this music stuff be?!"

I just don't think you really love music. The fact you're talking about giving up wouldn't even cross your mind otherwise.

Troup you gotta understand that its not just 'what you say' that gets people mad... its 'how you say it'. You are obviously completely and utterly unaware that you have a real lack of social interaction skills. You constantly come off as 'arrogant' and a 'know it all'. Its just the way you are and i really dont think you know it.

I kinda feel sorry for you... the way you come across is obviously something that you cant control. You constantly act like you have something over EVERYBODY else. When in reality you dont and YOU (i repeat YOU) know this deep down.

You are exactly like every other 'wanna be producer' on this forum. EXACTLY the same. You just TALK like your something better!

The reality is that your music is simply not good enough to get placements and THATS IT. Everyone with ears in there head can know this... they just have to simply listen to your music. Its just not good enough and you know it. Thats why your looking for other avenues to make money i.e. your new website thing.

I would never usually be this brutally honest but its only because of your attitude that im saying it. You always say that the music business is more about business than music. Well ive got news for you sunshine... its also about how you deal with situations and how you interact with people. Im afraid you fall VERY short on this.

You need to seriously take a GOOD LONG LOOK at the way you interact with people and your general attitude.

Again i only say this coz ive genuinely never come across a person who is completely and utterly oblivious to to both 'reality' and 'how they come across' in all my life.

Its crazy because I agree with you that a lot of people chase this dream of being the next Scott Storch and we all know what happened to him.

The problems comes when you act as if you are better than taking the normal route to work your way up and even if you don't "mean" to be, your posts give that vibe.

The problem is when you give definative answers to situations that you have no basis on. If you've had a maor placement then it would justifiable but since you haven't had one, who can you tell other people what to do? Seriously....all BS aside.

Ex. One dude asked about giving free beats to a major artist and you said (para phrasing):

NO!!!!!! NEVER GIVE YOUR MUSIC AWAY!!!!!!

Even though you gave a good reason thats the only solution for that situation. Simple as that but you act like you know all of the answers and thats why dudes have problems with you. I could careless because I don't seek for major advice on the internet.

No one is mad brother. You just need to stop with the sweeping industry statements. You had a bad experience, fair enough. No need to keep banging on about the coming apocalypse and ruining the fun for everyone else.

Yes the industry is changing, it just means your money will be coming from a different place.

Exactly. But you lost him after you said this cuz now he isn't gonna respond to this and just the other stuff.

why do any of yall care about what troup does? if he aint messing with your money, hurting your family or friends, what he does should'nt affect yall.

instead watch what he does with his business, and learn from it whether it is successful or not.

Then quit nigga! God damn your **** sucks no wonder nobody fna put u on

...if IndustrySound.com does not succeed in the way that I want it to.

Yes I said it.

IndustrySound.com is the culmination of 19 years of studying and knowledge of the music industry. I'm a freaking walking encyclopedia of music knowledge and music industry business practices/trends since 1990 (when I was 3).

Money wise, I'm good for about a year of not working. But at some point, I have to say "okay, this isn't working, I need to switch gears to build a true career".

Everybody has that "stopping point". IndustrySound.com is mine.

If it doesn't work, then I'm out the music game. I'll be selling all of my equipment, and it'll be a wrap.

This venture is everything that I know about EVERYTHING. It's everything I love, and it's everything that I am.

I've never set any drop dead date like this before, but this is it.

best of luck!!

but if you do stop

make sure you invite me to the garage sale so i can grab that meko ;)
