Alright using Adobe Audition/Cool Edit Pro, how do I record sounds my computer makes without a mic. Ive seen this done before where settings are adjusted that if i played a song or listened to anything on my computer it would record it in cooledit. I want to record some noises off a soundboard online.

Any Help Much Appreciated

I did search and couldnt find anything thanks alot for the help

Thanks for lookin out for me but the program didn't work for me. I couldnt get the line in to work. I think the problem may be my soundcard does not support line in.

Thanks

See if you can find the Creative Mediasource Player... it came with my comptuer and can record what you hear

i know what you are trying to do and assuming you are using windows, this will work with cool edit.

first i would cue up a recording file with cool edit while something is playing, with the vu meters on, so you can see when if it starts to work.

next, go into the soundrec program, ie click the little speaker icon in your taskbar.

go to properties

select recording

there will be an option to check "mix" , or "what you hear" or something like that.

then select that recording source and make sure your levels are up.

this should do it.

it can also be wave, or record master. ^^^^^ thats the right track, all computers are different tho, i meen soundcards.

Beat thief. I'm putting tags on my beats from now on.

LOLLLLL i didnt think bout that, but who would do that, the quality from mp3z is horrible, unless u got a upload capability of 320 kbp

There are also stream recorders that record the audio stream straight from the website. And a mp3 at 192kbp is cd quality. It wouldn't sound the best but people that have to steal beats probally get what they can and quality wouldn't be the first thing on their mind. I used to record beats but I never used them or said that I made them. When I first started I would record a beat off of the net and study it. I would write down all of the layers of sounds I heard and what the song structure was to learn about beat making.

well he said soundboard, so he probably just wants some vocal samples to add to his beats.

I'm not doing this to steal peoples beats. I wanna use a sample from a Rick James Chappelle show soundboard. I cant find the wav files anywhere and will have to record from the soundboard directly. Don't be so cynical Morningstar

I dont have the option in my speaker options to record what I hear. It only gives me the option to record with Microphone. I think its probally cause i have a **** ass soundcard. Let me know if theres any other way.

Thanks

you dont need any fancy programs to do this. it is a simple matter of routing the sound with your sound card. even the crappiest and oldest soundcards usually have this option. what are you using?

first off are you getting to the soundrec program? the usual path is C:\WINNT\system32\sndrec.exe are you going to properties? are you selecting recording? please list all the options in your sound program. this shouldnt have anything to do with speakers.

and 192k mp3 is NOT cd quality....320k is a bit closer, but still not the same as a 44.1 16bit wav.

and he did say SOUNDBOARD, nothing to do with stealing peoples beats.

and nobody on here would DREAM of sampling someone else, would they? heh.

i got that program, but now all it records is wat my comp hears and i cant seem to get it back to the mic normaly.

again, do the above in reverse. instead of checking "mix" or whatver, check "mic in" or "line in".

btw, you might end up getting a better quality sample if you just download the chappele episode, rip the audio in cep, and the cut out the section you want.

My Audio Options include the following:

Under Recording

Mixer Device: C-Media USB Headphone Set

Show the following volume Controls:

-Microphone

Mixer Device: SigmaTel AUdio

Show the following volume controls:

-Stereo Mix
-Microphone

Let me know whats up and if this setup is capable of recording inline sounds.

I was just giving you a hard time. Plus sound boards have really crappy quality. Just get the dvd's and sample it. It would be much better. Plus I think at ebaumsworld you can download the sounds also on some of them.
