sorry to hear about the situation troup. alot of ppl are just not willing to work hard and take chances.

you dont become anything without hard work, dedication, and originality. just dosent happen. look at every single person who is great (not good) at what they do in ANY feild. surgery, teaching, sports, acting, music, art.

all the best. all the major players, are hard workers, take chances , and are willing to be original .

call me crazy but last time i checked thats how it worked....

and i am guilty of not doing more of all of the above as i should be

Paying 11k to clear a sample is only smart if you're a producer with a real name, and the artist already has some buzz. Do you people even know how many hits go unheard every single day? Music is moneyless, there is financially no point to spend 11k for the very small chance (emphasis on the bold words) that you make that money back.

Gambling almost never makes money. Statistics people.

FP would make for terrible CPA's. (oh, and they actually make money)

If every producer followed the advice in this thread, there would be one rich ass producer, and about 100 producers that are clinically depressed and 11k in debt. Do you really want to risk falling into the second category? Mathematically, clearing samples like this doesn't even make sense.

No matter how much you think you have a hit, you don't know SHIIIIIIT because a hit can always turn out to be a flop.

Hopefully someone reading this is smart enough to follow my advise. Otherwise, have fun moving back with yo momma...

That's because 11G's is alot of money to you.

I spent 11G's LAST WEEK. And I'm not even bulllshitting.

You can spend 11G's on promo materials for a new artist. You can easily drop that on 2 month's worth of promo touring in support of an unknown artists project. Gas, flights, hotel, food...for a team...all that adds up real quick.

Nobody told every FP producer to clear an 11k sample. Realistically, that doesn't even make sense, because they don't have the resources to work the record once it's paid for.

But for those that do, it can be a very sound investment.

Note that I word..INVESTMENT...because that's what it takes. An INVESTMENT. And not in Soundclick Layouts.

this is great if you are an indie artist that is making a good amount of money off music, but if your not really making money off music (or not that much) don't waste 11k

If you're so rich, why you still on FP? Lol, I joke. 11G isn't really that much considering I go on 7-8 grand vacations which earn me nothing in return.

And like I said, for a producer that already has a name, and an artist that's at least going somewhere, it can be a good investment, but for Mr. "best beats on soundclick" it's really not worth their time or money.

Not to all of us :).

You are dead right here, if you want a real return from anything you have to invest either time, money, effort, all of the above etc etc. I would never have the balls to invest 11g's in music though, glad that you do and it is working out for you (I assume so). How are the returns so far?

u niggas talkin like 11 gs aint a lot of money thats a few months of pay for me lol

To be honest...that shit really aint worth it to the average producer. The only way I can justify dropping that much on sample clearance is if ive already had a hit or hits before. But for any normal person that is NOT living off his music (meaning you are working a job other than making music and you are not getting paid enough through your music to even sustain your basic needs) to drop 11k to CLEAR A SAMPLE makes literally NO kinda sense. At all.

Let's think this through. Clearing a SAMPLE means you have the freedom to use a song anyway you want with no threat of legal percussions. ONE SONG THOUGH! If youre anything like me you have countless others.

This thread is all well and good. But its not for the majority.

The very SECOND money get involved that is above "New sample kings soundpack" Money, every one starts chiming in about how it aint worth it.

Just in case you others missed that post.

To be fair, sometimes it really ain't worth it. There's no point spending $1000 on a soundclick design when you can get one that's catchy and professional for $3-400. And to some people, hardware just isn't worth it, depending on their workflow and what they're most used to/comfortable with.

But yeah, it takes money to make money. Bad investments are a waste of money, but good ones are always beneficial. The problem with most people is they can't distinguish a good one from a bad one.
