How can you feel, when one of the persons that have influenced more your life, dies?????

I never met him, but in some way, he strongly influenced me every day, since I play a synth by the first time 15 years ago....

the synthesizers are beatiful, I couldn`t live without them, I don´t know what else to say....

EVERYONE who has heard of a Moog synth needs to watch the documentary DVD released just last year: "MOOG". There are other books which include writings by Bob Moog such as the Vintage Synthesizer Book compiled by Mark Vail. Another interesting book that details the parallel developments of the synthesizer on the east and west coasts by Bob Moog and Don Buchla, is the book entitled "Analog Days." This is a good history and goes into the early electronic musicians who played these synths as well. But the DVD is really worth the rental fees at least.

I remember going to Long & McQuade in Toronto when I was a boy and playing with the Moog synths with the headphones on. I was astounded by the sounds.

I grew up with the synth bands: ELP, Synergy, Yes etc. and a good portion of my formative years as a musician where spent smoking d*pe with my buddies and cranking the tunes. Good times, great music, great sounds.

The passing of an icon.

RIP

That documentary is great. If you don't rent it, but it! There are quite a few parts that really get into the mind of Dr Bob. Some sceens (like at his home) do not really have any relavence to synths, but really lets you feel like you are getting to know him. Then there are parts with gear porn that just make you drool. My favorite is where they show the voyagers being built, it gets me excited ;)

I watched the DVD documentary and I would recommend it as well... It is a must-have.

I bought it. I'll watch it again!

MAN... I WAS LIKE WHOA WHEN I HEARD THIS A COUPLE WEEKS BACK. I think all real tweakheadz owe alot to mr moog.. he single handedly changed music forever!

RIP

RIP MOOG. Theres nothing more to say that has already been said.

RIP

Bob was amazing. I remember listening to "Switched on Bach" at the age of 7. I still clearly remember that it changed the way that I perceived music.

To this day, I feel indebted to Moog for launching me on my career as a synthesizer musician. Not even Wendy Carlos could move me, because although she did bring that sound to me, I have always felt that the creator is more important.

Thanks.
