There is no special context to that interview. Bink! put the dots out there for both the readers and the interviewer to put together. He may not have brought up Jus's name but he did elaborate ever so bitterly after it was.

No matter how you slice it---dude has a grudge against Jus for outshining him in the long run.

Read the whole thing.

The context was people mimicking his drums and why wasn't he on any other Jay albums.

He said he LEFT the Jay-Z/Roc-a-Fella situation.

Bad business move.

George Foreman Grills are all over the place because Hulk Hogan wasn't at home. True Story.

You win some, you lose some.

Yeah...Bink did not have a bitter tone IMO. The whole basis was about creativity. It's a WELL known fact that Just Blaze has made better business moves but sometimes the conversation does not have to be about the business...remember MUSIC comes BEFORE business in the phrase "music business". The whole interview was about Bink's music and creative process and development. His business practices was definitely a minor detail of the interview.

For some people music is still more of a creative outlet than it is a business. Some people go to the park early on saturday to work on their jumper so they can be good at shooting, doesnt mean they want to be the next Michael Jordan and play NBA ball for a living. As much as folks talk about business on this site, you can see thay alot of conversations on this board turn into discussions about money and not really the art of producing. It is equally important to work on your craft if you are a musician. The reality is that very few of us will truly make a living off music to achieve the level of comfort we seek in life.

even so if he had a grudge, if the readers and interviewer can put it together.. does that not mean something?

if im asked a question about a person i dont like, ima tell it like it is.. doesnt make anybody bitter, angry, mad, crying or any of that

if you read the WHOLE interview from start to finish.. i dont get how 3 questions about a person can make somebody seem bitter

you realize that bink still gets placements, and gets work to this day?

some people dont choose to be huge monstrous producers, DJ Toomp (untill around when What you Know dropped), Ty Fyffe, Digga, Battlecat, Rick Rock

just because they dont go run around yelling their names on tracks, people def have picked up game from them, and they may have stated it in interviews, and mite be mad.. AS WOULD ANYBODY who feels they have had somethin take from them... but they still put in work.. and that doesnt make them any less successful, or any less of a good producer.

he didnt deny Just Blaze of anything.. he said dude was talented, i dont see whats wrong with him stating his piece, even if he does have a problem with him..

you can still respect people, and not like what they do/done.. i see people do it on FP all the time "i dont like it.. but i respect his hustle" or "i dont like it, but i see why i did it"

and i think Troup made a comparison between Bink! and Jaz-O

the problem wit that logic is that

1. Jaz-O's WHOLE essence is being mad at Jay-Z, whether he has a reason to or not to. His only songs, videos, interviews (the whole time) as of late have been about Jay-Z... Bink didnt mention dudes name.. but niggas KNOW what it is, the interviewer knew what questions he was asking. thats just how it goes.

2. Bink still gets work as a producer on mainstream albums, Jaz never got big work like that.

3. Jaz O and Jay actually WORKED together, grew up together, were close.. Bink! never knew Just outside of the music ****..

and Troup brought up the fact that he left roc-a-fella, actually he didnt, he was still working on roc-a-fella releases up till 07, while JUST left to work on Saigon's ****

some dudes consider success different things, but if Bink! "felloff" i hope i can "falloff" like that and have a career that long and work with some of my favorite artists and work under Teddy Riley

^^^ Okay...so shut up and make music, Bink. No need to try to throw another dude under the "biting" bus.

Just work and get money, and don't try to EXPOZE other dudes in an interview with NOBODY.

It just smells like Loser.

So after all this time and countless placements he still found time to harbor on this? Sounds bitter to me.

exactly guys like bink and the othes u mentioned are staples in the industry jus coz ther not in videos etc doesnt mean they aint successful

Just Blaze def bit Bink, and someone mentioned Philadelphia Freeway, listen to What We Do, which is text book Bink, just like the song "All My Life" that Bink did on that album, or Blackstreet "Don't Leave", etc. he had that style where the beat was based on the big turnaround, and he had that style of drums, he had a vid on PMP explaining how geographically, being in VA brought on that particular style, ... but in Just Blaze's defense, when your in that type of environment, your all together working on a project, the styles will blend for the cohesiveness of the project, also, Just Blaze, tried for about 2 years to get Jay's attention before he placed on the Dynasty, so I can see him studying what's in Bink's music that isn't in his, or just to know what Jay's ear was like at the time ... it probably wouldn't have bothered Bink! as much if Just Blaze would mention him, because he definitely took his style and ran with it, the branding helped, but even that was kind of a fluke if you read Just Blaze talking about saying his name on the beats and that kind of thing ... Bink! probably feels like he kinda got boxed out, and having Just & Kanye managed by the in-house A&R squad was kind of a conflict of interest that wouldn't work in Bink's favor ... one thing about biting tho, once you step into the commercial arena, it becomes a little different, because sometimes someone comes with their style, and it transcends being a style and can turn into a genre, and from people emulating, the inaccuracy brings about little things that are different and they find their own sound eventually, and you notice you have a new genre, its different than just in the hip-hop culture, that competitiveness, and one-upmanship, but I can feel his passion on that, as I was in a very similar situation ... and even Buckwild, one of Bink's heroes, spoke on PMP about how every starts out with a favorite producer/musician who they emulate subconsciously or deliberately, and they will find their own sound eventually ... even Bink! will tell you that the soul samples was brought on by RZA, and also Teddy Riley showing him what he knew, I'm sure he borrowed from him, probably more about producing the artist and putting together a song than really with the beats, but also about musicianship and song structure, and then he lists DC go-go as an influence and African drumming, so there's different ways to look at it

but that goes with ANYTHING and ANYBODY

i mean after all this time, They're still gonna ask Cam'ron why he left, and what happended to Dipset

after all this time, theyre gonna ask Jay-Z, what happended between him and Dame

there gonna ask Stat Quo about Dre

there gonna ask Shyne about Puffy

there gonna ask Royce about Em

anything with any sort of controversy behind it.. there gonna ask it.. years from now, there gonna ask Rick Ross about the CO ****, they still ask 50 about Supreme, there gonna ask Ja Rule about 50

anything that has controversy behind it, big deal or not.. is gonna be asked, and you cant always be on that political "oh i dont wanna answer" thing

and im sure in future Just Blaze interviews theyre gonna ask about the rumors that he took that All of the Above track (which he cleared up), and there gonna ask about Bink! its just how it is

Its a lot of good points said in this thread . At the end of the day they both make good music I can almost say 95 percent in here would say they wish they could of made one track both just and bink have made in the past.I rememeber I was in bink silver magnum down here in norfolk talking and he told me almost everything he said in that lil interview.at the end of the day everybody has they own opinion I'm sure just has a opinion bout bink or who ever else is in the game with similar styles

Precisely. People act like if you speak your mind on a situation that you are automatically bitter. You don't see Bink making various youtube videos or writing blogs about the situation. He was asked a loaded question and he answered it with his honest opinion.

He sounds bitter because he went OUT OF HIS WAY to bring it up, and to elaborate in detail about it.

The interviewer didn't ask him about biters. HE brought it up.

Here we see Bink tee'ing up the shot...the diss to just blaze...quiet everyone...

A: Do you really pay attention to your drums or is it something that it is natural to you?

B: It’s definitely not something that I was doing with a conscious effort. It just comes out that way. That’s the difference between me and other people who are trying to mimic that sound.

A: Back in 2000, Jay-Z dropped "The Dynasty", an album that introduced your talent alongside those of Just Blaze and Kanye West. How come we didn’t find you on every Jay albums after that?

OH!!! A SWING AND A MISS!!! The interviewer completely IGNORED Bink tee'ing up the Just Blaze Diss!!!

Okay crowd...since the subtle approach didn't work, we are about to see Bink pull out the bigger club...

B: I did "The Blueprint” which was right after that but I kind of shadow away from the whole Roc-A-Fella scene because I was actually mimicked by somebody within the camp. It doesn’t feel right with me just because I’m from the old school and taking somebody else sound or style or whatever which was called “biting” back in the day is real personal. In the new school, there’s no such thing as “biting”, it’s about getting a check.

OH!!! THAT GOT THE INTERVIEWERS ATTENTION!! The ball is now on the tee!!! The interviewer is about to take the bait!!!

A: Who was biting your style?

B: I mean, that’s obvious, you can tell me that!

A: I would say... Just Blaze?

"FOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!" ***swoooossshhhh*** -- Bink!

B: Of course! You are the type of guy that pays attention to details. The average fan or the average consumer, they don’t really care about who got what from who. That’s not their concern. If the record is hot, it’s all they care about. But if you are a fan of music, and you have really followed the game, then you know what I brought to the game and what people borrowed from me since I came in.

The crazy thing is that I used to be cool with the guy. Just Blaze and me were cool at one time doing the whole “Dynasty” and “Blueprint”. Once it got to the point where he was taking what I was doing, it doesn’t fit right with me. He ended up signing to Gee Roberson and Hip-Hop who were A&Rs for Roc-A-Fella. Once I wasn’t really feeling what was going on, they kind of let me behind and I pursued my career in other places.

A: So you ‘re any longer cool with Just Blaze, right?

B: We definitely don’t talk [laughs]. But when I first met the guy, he sounded like Swizz Beatz! That’s the irony to the story. He’s the only guy that I’ve heard in the game taking from so many producers. He’s starting to come to his own now a little bit but even now he’s more sounding like a Toomp or a Drumma Boy. He does what’s hot and that’s the part of the game that I told you I don’t agree with. I’m not going to do something because everybody else is doing it. He’s infamous for borrowing from people, that’s his M.O.. He’s a talented guy, I might say but he hasn’t brought anything to the game that he has come up with. That’s the only thing he’s missing: his own sound.

lol...C'mon now!!!

Hellen Keller can see that from a mile away!

Bink was like "ooh, please ask me about Just Blaze!!"

The interviewer ignored him so he yelled it louder...

"PLEASE ASK ME ABOUT JUST BLAZE!!!!!!!"

The interviewer heard him that time and asked. Then he tried to play coy like "i'm not gon even say his name...BUT YOU CAN!!"

Interviewer said his name, then Bink started saying Just Blazes name...OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

That whole section was one big B!tch move on the part of Bink. Came across bitter as hell.

Just handle your business and keep it moving...that's all.

everybody from herbie hancock to quincy jones have copied a 'sound' or have been inspired by a 'sound'. This stems back to even Beethoven himself, he studied and got inspired by other musicians.

Bink! should not try to act like 'biting' is anything new or rather anything wrong to do as a musician

so for 4 pages of an interview from start to finish he was waiting to be asked about just blaze???

the 1st question couldve been talking about ANYBODY trying to mimic the sound

the 2nd question couldve been about either Kanye, Neo Da Matrix or Just who are all and were signed to Roc a fella, the interviewer put two and two together

whether that was intentional or not. doesnt matter, and even if he is "bitter" so what

handle your business and keep it moving

^^J.troup, that is a bit much. The man was not bitter, he just created a talking point. Its clear he bite him a little, just like it was clear Kanye bit No I.D. in the beginning. Just Blaze went with the hot sound at the moment, and Blink! happen to have that sound. Everyone bites, no big deal.

I think saying he's bitter is like saying Dame is bitter at Jay Z for messing up the Roc. That is in the past, they are not talking but I dont think there is any hate between them. Damn, its just a style anyways....
