what do yall think is the best song that mixes rock with rap?
some ideas:
- rage against the machine songs (which is where my vote goes, either for "down rodeo" or "bombtrack")
- mike patton - stuff from his new "peeping tom" album, or stuff with faith no more (like "epic")
- prince paul n dan the automator - "rock and roll could never hip hop like this"
- dj shadow + unkle + kool g rap - "guns blazing (drums of death part 1)"
- radiohead - "talk show host" (more of a rock song but the instruments/drum-programming are very hip-hop)
- nas - "thiefs theme"
- beastie boys stuff (especially that album "licensed to ill" with the slayer guitarist)
- run-dmc/aerosmith - "walk this way"
- jay-z - "99 problems" (im not a fan, but many people like it)
- sublime - "doin time" (the drumbeat is very hip-hop)
- deftones - "back to school" (chino does some rapping), "teenager" (ILL drum programming with some old-school-rap-style drum sounds)
- team sleep - stuff from their just-released debut self-titled cd (its ILL)
- public enemy and anthrax - "bring tha noize"
- linkin park (i am def not a fan)
- gnarls barkley (i am def not a fan)
and btw, as a matter of self-promotion, I make rock/rap hybrid stuff (http://www.soundclick.com/billythekidny)
