ok so i was looking at the behringer's new line of DJ mixers and I saw they had a pioneer wanna be for a couple hundred bucks...

does anyone know how well it stands up to the pioneer?

i know that the DJX doesnt have balanced outputs which is pretty lame but how is everything else?

ive put in about 40 minutes on the djx and i have to say dollar for dollar it blows the pioneer away. it is definitely not 1/3rd of the mixer the pioneer is. it's longevity is yet to be seen though.

I dont think Berhinger's quality is that great. Just my opinion though.

Scott, what do you base that opinion on?

Im NOT knocking or Dissing your opinion, simply looking for some background to what caused your opinion to be negative, rather than positive.

My own thoughts on Behringer, is that their products are reliable, seriously underpriced by about 30%~50% of other manufacturers products and overall a make that I'd recommend.

Certainly their DJX-700, which I've only had about 2 hours play on, is a good mixer and certainly worth considering in ALMOST any situation that you'd consider the DJM-600 for. Especially if you're after slightly better sonics/audio output than the aging DJM-600 offers. Tne newer circuitry in the DJX-700 certainly sounded better to me in a store where the two were side-by-side, swapped between the same amp/speaker set up.

HOWEVER, the effects on the DJX-700 are not as strong((good) as those of the DJM-600.

behringer quality

i have formed my opinon on behringer equipment through reviews i have read, comments on this board and experience of friends. i personally own one item made by behringer the truth monitors. i have to say that behringer picks up points for their prices. i have heard good things about their studio mixers and bad things about their dj mixers. i like my truths pretty well, although i have not used them very much. a friend of mine and i each ordered a pair of truths. he uses his much more than i do. a few months ago, he was using them at a sane level and one of the monitors caught on fire - no $hit. behringer has been rather lame about fixing the problem. they will only "repair" the damaged speaker not replace it. i mean c'mon, the thing caught on fire! another thing that loses points with me is why steal pioneers designs? can't they come up with their own? - jeff h

Ok so from the people who have used the DJX, here are a couple questions for ya...

how are the faders?
how is the effects system?
does it have the same way to switch the frequency of the effects that the 600 has?
is that sound enhancer any good?

thanks a bunch

I like their studio mixing consoles. But I played on their dj mixers not the exact mixer your talking about and I just don't like their sound. I don't think their a horrible mixer, just not that great. If I had to get a mixer cheaper than a djm I would just get a vestax and a kaoss pad. Thanks for the respectful reply though Hotstepper. It really bugs me when people diss other peoples opinions in the forums. Peace:)

Are you serious?? That's crazy, how did it catch fire?

it was really odd actually. my friend wasn't pushing the monitors hard. he has them connected to his computer and he was using them to just play some tunes while friends were over. one of his friends noticed that one of the monitors was "smoking and glowing red through the ports." needless to say they put it out immediately. his words of advice were "dude, if you're going to use those monitors, make sure you are watching them the whole time." i can't imagine what could have happened if he had not been home. i have not seen the monitor in question. so far he has sent them back to behringer US and they will only repair, not replace the monitor in question. - jeff h

a pro sound guy at one of my favorite local stores said the other day, "The only time an owner of Behringer gear is happy is the day they buy it and the day they sell it."

as an owner of a bunch of their studio mixers and sound modules, i would have to agree.

I think it will function just as well as the djm 600 except in time it will wear out a lot quicker. If you are trying to get a mixer you will be with for a while, don't get a djx700. I personally never really liked Behringet equipment because I seen that the quality in it isn't really there. Its good for its prices, but I've seen behringer mixers not work right from the beginning, and i know that wouldn't happen with most other manufacturers.

How did you get one? According to Behringer they are not released yet.
As of Aug 4, they are not available.

THe DJX700 has not yet shipped. It will go out very soon.

As for the Truth monitors that "caught fire", there is NO RECORD of any fires anywhere. If this is truly the case, please have your friend email me at r.brown@behringer.com

As for the warranty, no one replaces $400 speakers that have been used. If they were DOA or failed immediately after purchase, we'd be glad to replace them. However, repairing a piece of gear that's been used is entirely fair.

r.brown, i will forward on your information to my friend. although it seems that your position is exactly that stated by the facility that the speakers are at as we speak. so i really don't understand the point. again, i have not seen the speaker in question, but if anything that i owned that was still under warranty caught on fire internally i would expect a replacement of the product. i would think that it would be more cost effective for you to replace the speaker anyway rather than pay a technician for hours of labor to troubleshoot and repair/replace components. my truths are most likely from the same lot as my friends - so i can tell you i will not leave them unattended again. - jeff h

I have been in close communication with Behringer's Washington office. Nothing has shipped. Period.
They tell me that they don't know the exact ship date. Only the head office in Germany knows when. So please stick to the facts.

(These are the fact straight from Behringer)

Care to change your statement?

Hard-
Germany doesn't have a set date for release. The way we work is to ship product to our warehouses around the world and then do quality control checks. Once the qc is completed, the products are released for sale and shipped to stores.

since it looks like it hasn't been said yet, here's a big Welcome! and Thank You! to BigBopper for taking the time to visit our forum and answer questions. It is always MUCH appreciated when a company rep pays us a visit. :D kudos to BigBopper and Behringer!

Thanks Cat.....but thank Denon too. He's the one who told me about this forum. I've been reading it for a few weeks and thought it was time to jump in.
