Under,
I read your post and waited to comment the first time until I had checked with Germany. Only 7 pieces have been released and they're all just samples. Works out to one in each of our offices. I was assured they're not yet out in ANY country.

Heh, I was actually pissed because I have a ton sitting in my warehouse here waiting sales release. I guess it's posible a few snuck out the backdoor, but officially I have to deny that anyone saw them.:D

the dealer tried to sell me one. i dont know what was going on there. i have laid hands on it though, perhaps it was just there for a short stint and the other dealer was talking about the same mixer?

oh btw my mate says he knows u from some other msg board (Sean). to quote him, he said "boppers a good cookie, but tell the old prat i've used it as well"

Hey Bigbopper, I have to ask a question that i've been very curious about: The new Behringer DJX-400 & 700 look extremely similar to Pioneer's well-known DJM-300 & 600. I understand that the internal circuitry differs from the Pioneer units, but what I think is interesting is that both designs are different from all other dj mixer configurations and (until now) were unique to Pioneer.

I give Behringer good marks for diversifying their DJ mixer line, but aren't the layouts & designs of those mixers patented by Pioneer? Is such a thing patentable? If so, does Behringer have a special agreement with Pioneer to copy their designs?

i'm just wondering what Behringer's official position on this is, and what you think as well.

The "look" of a product is not patentable. As for a unique look, I'd STRONGLY disagree.

Gemini, Tascam, ESO, Vestax and countless others have made mixers that look similar. Most dual deck cd players look similar (if not down right exact) and yet no one has ever said anything about it. Pioneer's a fantastic piece (I own 11 DJM600's) but there are plenty of people out there who can't afford $1100 for a mixer. We offer them an alternative.

excellent answer! i can't argue with your logic. :) but owning 11 djm-600's??? what in the world do you do with all of them?!

LOL- No cat....even at a street price of around $200, I don't have the cash to replace them all. Besides, I know what's coming out down the pipe;)

Hi

I am interested in the DJX700 as I cant afford a DJM 500/600 but want to practice on that syle of mixer as thats what most clubs seem to use.

I have some questions please.

1) Most people seem to compare it to the DJM600 but as it doesnt appear to have a sampler, would it not be more equivelent to the old DJM500?

2) Some one said it didnt have balanced outputs. why might this be important?

3) Have they been released yet? I have seen some new ones for sale on ebay but will these be fully working production units?

4) (to bigbopper) Will the new units you referred to have a built in sampler and be released this year?

thanks

Sorry for the delay. Just moved over the weekend and my net access is spot at best. Dial up sucks!!!!!

1. There's a bunch of differences between a DJM600 and DJM500 other than the sampler. However, I don't make any comparisons.

2. I'd suggest you (and everyone) read the SOUND REINFORCEMENT HANDBOOK. It will answer all of your questions such as this. As for not having balanced outs, you can buy our DI box for $20 if that's important to you.

3. They have not yet shipped. I'll post a message here when they do. It should be any day. I'd also caution you on buying from Ebay. Our authorized dealers DO NOT sell on Ebay. Our warranty states that it will only be honored when accompanied by a reciept from an authorized dealer.....you do the math;)

4. I don't know what you're talking ab out:D

Thanks for the answers

1) fair enough. But can you confirm that the djx700 does or doesnt have a sampler please.

2) Could you please indicate what the DI box is and in what situations it may be useful.

3) I wont buy off ebay, thx for advice. For your interest here are some for sale (there are others too) :-

4) I was talking about your comment "Besides, I know what's coming out down the pipe". I guess you wont want to ellaborate too much but will it be worth waiting?

cheers
