Just got Beat Thang Virtual

Yo Micheal, besides the drums and percussion and typical strings etc, what type of original sounds does it have we never heard before and hot big is that file, 1gig, 2gig what?
 
Hey Danoc, believe it or not, it's actually less than a gig.

Think about it like this, it's hardware. A Motif XS only has 355 megs. A Fantom G is only 256 megs.

After taking a look at their site, I don't really see why I should sell my mpc and pay them $1000 for this stuff. Looks like a 90s nintendo.

recheargable battery, internal memory, effects, SD card... wow...

reminds me of Propellerhead.
 
i like the quickness of the beat thang stuff looks like u can just get right into creative mode without any tecnical considerations or without loaind sounds everything is there right away.

the image and looks is secondary to me but i dont mind the appearance as it seem very clear and self explanatory.

why would u sell ur MPC if its doin the job for you? dont worry bout the Beat Thang... its gonna do ok with those who get it.

If I take a look at the market, I don't see a reason why someone'd pay $1000 for it.

at this point, the Beat Thang is still vaporware, but if i go by the specs they have released for the machine, it more than holds it's own against ANY machine u just mentioned... especially as a standalone piece.

well, they are all different. Poise is just a drum sampler, you need a daw to use it in, so if you already have your daw rockin...then you can just integrate it easily.

beat thang virtual and maschine are really their own enviroments...even though maschine is already a vst/au plugin.

out of those three my choice is Maschine...it's the perfect blend of hardware control and software flexibility...

that said...I'm really excited about the beat thang hardware coming out.
 
what is the beat thang all about tho ? i know its some kind of beat machine but whats the purpose of it???
 
Bumpity bump bump bump. It's 2011 and we need more updated info about the Beat Thang Virtual on this site. It's selling for 99 in some places which is cheaper than the initial 150. The videos of it look pretty good and I think I read somewhere that it's already been updated to VSTi status, but I'm not sure. And does anybody know what the system requirements are for registration and running it?

What's the full update on this?

I can't recommend it at all. If you just want the sounds it comes with, then that's ok. Using it as a vst will crash Live. I emailed them and told them about it. I don't know if they ever fixed the problem.

Like I said before, the best thing about it was the sounds. The sequencer is ok I guess, but there is no step/grid edit which seems ridiculous for a software sequencer.
