Whats wrong with media player? I like media player though I am getting more and more used to using Itunes for everything. Hated Itunes on windows xp it runs much better on windows 7

It seems newbish although it is far from the Media Player of old days. I was actually reading up about opinions on best software and after extensive testing Windows Media Player came out on top overall. I still can't use it for some reason though, reeks of .wma (shudders).

i used to use wma files for everything to me they always sounded better than mp3s

I highly prefer the simple setups. I call them authentic. Dig the launchpad, how do you like your Genelecs?

They're harsh, in the best possible way. Surprisingly there's enough bass in them to be able actually mix it somehow, but obviously my speaker placement is more or less unorthodox here, due to space constraints. But yeah, I do like them even if the "surgical" sound makes it impossible to do anything else than to listen the music; attention-grabbing, so to say.

When they first came out I would agree but when VBR Lame came around .mp3 won hands down.

Foobar200 beats ever media player (for music) hands down.

I have been recommended this many times but never installed. Does it rip/convert to mp3? I use MediaMonkey which is good for playing but it has the ripping/converting limited.

MP3, FLAC, WAV, every thang!

Though you may need lame MP3 encoder but its real simple LAME MP3 Encoder if you use Audacity you probably already have it.

i only use media player for just playing back single files, if i want my tracks on longplay i use zara radio. for ripping and converting i use dbpoweramp and for burning either cdburnerxp or nero

itunes is good for everything unless it's not open because it just takes to long to load if I'm tryin to play someone a beat or something. WMP is fine otherwise.

Surprised you guys get into this so much. 1 app for burning, another for ripping, etc.

Its to bloated now, like 4 years ago it was the shit, now its literally shit.

I really like Itunes for pretty much everything since going windows 7. I dont have any issues with it just takes 3 seconds to load and I am ready to go

I had the same experience as Noble, I loved it for everything until I updated and it turned to doo doo.

Agree with Noble.

Foobar2000 is my player of choice, feels so light and efficient, really snappy.

Plus it plays FLAC, and WAVs.

Dope.

Really? Most people on GS say Genelec sound really 'good', almost too good to mix on.

I was leaning towards Adam A7, now I don't even know any more. :S

Well, "too good" and "harsh" in the sense of being annoyingly accurate. For some reason basically *all* my semi-pro-to-pro friends use Genelecs so I don't really have too much to compare with :D And yeah, I only have the 8020s in an untreated room so I'm not even gonna pretend to be able to give an unbiased opinion but they work for me.

Meanwhile, the damn electronics started multiplying so now it looks something like this:
