If you want big success, especially in music or something similar, you should understand that it will be a deficit first.

Almost all the big rappers/producers started like this. Eminem was a burger-flipper to make some money when he wasn't getting a penny for making music.

Who the **** wants to be a "poor musician"?

A lady her is still working and she's 70 years old. Her husband needs prescriptions... maybe she should get Fruity Loops and start grinding.

If they cut social security your going to be seeing alot of grandmas and papa's working in the mall and at your neighborhood burger king at 70 and 80....smh...

Its a shame that our elderly cant relax. Work till you die, arthritis, high blood pressure and all. What a great country we live in.

Man this world revolves around money. What? Niccas are gonna be bums and live in alleys and be cool wit it because they dont have to do shyt and can be "free"?

Fuyck that we all gotta struggle and grind. My uncle told me the only bad hustle is no hustle at all. If you dont think money is important then survival must not be that important to you

The higher you go up the chain, the less you have to work, really. And the MORE time you have to pursue your dreams.

If I had a job making like 30k, I'd probably be working so hard at the damn job, that I wouldn't be able to do anything but sleep. I wouldn't have time to chase my dreams.

Not only that, chasing my dreams costs MONEY, and I wouldn't have any money to do that...cuz I'd be spending all of my money on EATING and having a place to SLEEP.

Moving up the chain actually gives you more flexibility to chase your dream.

That's why I finished college and got a good job BEFORE I started the whole dream chasing thing.

It's working out great for me so far. I can chase my dream, AND live how I want to live.

I def noticed that you make more money doing less physical work, it turns into mental work, either knowing how to manipulate the physical work of others to your advantage (no negative connotation implied) or just putting your brain to work in general

I'm just not really patient enough to stick with a job that I hate long enough to get to that point

last year I had a pretty decent accounting job where I was, as you said, working too long & hard to really be able to music, & then spending the money pretty much on my expenses

most of the time I wish I finished college, except when I look at my friend who did finish & up until now, was working the same bullshit jobs you can get at 16, working 2 at a time, or working long shifts, riding a bus back & forth between 2 cities, living with his girl where he works & paying for an apartment he's rarely in, basically with his life on hold ... but recently he got a corporate job at a grocery store, so that's a step I guess ... I wouldn't have been able to go through that rough period, I'd honestly rather be unemployed & be in hustle mode, which is probably a lot more stress to be honest ...

as of now, the balance for me has been doing sound for churches pretty steady, and then doing the music, getting paid for beats whenever I can & making business moves, plus whatever odd jobs come around, whether its chopping down trees, moving, hauling, ... which is also a pain in the ass, but at the end of the 2 or 3 day jobs, the payout is better for the time put in than most jobs I'm able to get at this point, its just not steady

if I could find me a music "day job", where maybe I'm doing office work for a label or something, I could stick with that closer to the big payoff ... although I tend to spazz out on people when I'm getting the short end of the stick when it comes to money, & when it happens as it relates to music that kinda boils my blood even more

but when I mess around and have a kid, that'll all change real quick, I'm tryna make whatever chess moves I can before that happens so I'll be in better position when it does

As far as not having time to chase the dream, I was in the military. While deployed in Afghanistan, after working 12, 16, 20 hours on shifts, guard duty, my actual job (intel), etc, I still would go back to my room and work on my craft for HOURS.

you'z a bad man then ... I used to be able to do it like that when I was in college, and maybe 2 years after, partly because I skipped class whenever I felt like it, but I still worked out, played basketball, hang with friends, attend events, DJd the basketball games, worked in the coffee shop, etc. and then pretty much did music whenever I wasn't doing one of those ... and when I look back it, sometimes having more to do sometimes helps you to do more if that makes any sense, it kinda gives you structure, whereas sometimes you have too much time on your hands it you get even lazier

The thing with moving up the chain more, in a technical job anyway, is that you get further and further away from "common knowledge". So it's not that the things that you have to do are more difficult mentally, it's just that not that many people have the knowledge. They have the NEED for it to be done, but they don't have the knowledge to do it.

So they pay me to have the knowledge and to do it for them. I keep the servers happy. It's not hard work...sometimes it's time consuming, but not hard by any means.

So they pay me to know what they don't have the time (nor desire) to know. :)

if I could find me a music "day job", where maybe I'm doing office work for a label or something, I could stick with that closer to the big payoff ... although I tend to spazz out on people when I'm getting the short end of the stick when it comes to money, & when it happens as it relates to music that kinda boils my blood even more

That's the thing about "the big payoff". That doesn't happen any more. Now it's about adding up the "little payoffs", so that the sum is the big pay off.

You are doing sound for churches...turn that into an official business. Cuz man, churches be HURTING for some technical know how. Then flip that into doing engineering for people who need recording done. Then let that be a gateway into selling people your beats.

Make a business out of the knowledge that you have, and serve it to the market that needs it.

That right there is the big payoff...writing your own checks, doing what you love to do.

Moral of the story: Good guys finish last.

At least most of the time...

Good guys finish first. ALL THE TIME. its cool to be square and thats some of the realest shyt Ive come to experience.

A woman worth having wants a man with something to offer. Trust me Ive been with enough ratchet beeetches(baby monsta included) to know.

Good Guys know a good woman.

... you have to run 'em through a few tests first though, lol. Put 'em in awkward situations to see what their "tendencies" are. See if she comes home loaded after hanging out with her girlfriends (loaded, not just had some drinks)

No chick is going to be 100% faithful to you... even if she's physically faithful, she'll be emotionally and mentally unfaithful if you let ish get stagnant and start going through the motions. A dude at her job might say something as simple as "You look nice today..." and that'll be all she needs to forget about you until she sees you again... and she'll start to seek out those dudes to see if she gets complimented again (if you don't do it).

... and if you do the smothering thing, you're going to lose.

... and if you don't pay enough attention, you're probably going to lose

... if no other women want you, you'll probably lose too...

You're set up to lose... (see divorce rate)

So you'd better keep up the compliments JUST LIKE YOU DID WHEN YOU MET HER (or somebody else will give 'em)... and you better not complain about her going anywhere (no matter where it is)... and if waitresses and regular people in the street don't flirt with you, you're going to seem like an old hat after awhile (you can even set up the flirting by being funny or something)...

and if you wouldn't settle down with her friends (the people qualities part), probably shouldn't settle down with her. More than likely, she's like her friends. If they're nasty, she's nasty.

Had one of my main potna's wife say to me "Let's get together today, he won't know"... she was his girlfriend then but he still married her. They aren't together now. Guess I should've told him but I tried that with another dude and she twisted it around and told him that I just wanted to break them up so I could get at her... he fell for it and got mad at me.... so I hit it for the hell of it. I wasn't gon do it at first. I was riding around with her and asked why she would do ol boy like that and she said "Psst... I just take his money, I don't want him".

Your woman has to see other women smiling at you... how you get that to happen is up to you. Women have jealous streaks, they have to feel like they have something worth having. Some chick looking at you is a compliment to her... that she doesn't know how to handle.

Gizzame...

Supreme.

Took me a looong time to figure that shit out. Nigga was tripping and stumbling when it came to women.

Now? My shit is on cruise control, in the fast lane. Finally figured out that the shit I THOUGHT women wanted (what I learned from TV when I was a kid), isn't what women ACTUALLY want.

Can't be too nice...can't be too much of a dick. Gotta have a nice mix of both.

Can't be too "available" to her, but you also can't make her TOO insecure, or TOO jealous.

Can't completely neglect her...but you can't smother her either.

You have to seriously play those games with women...Like you have to consciously, almost manipulate their emotions.

Shit is crazy...but it works.

Yep, ish is hard to figure out too, lol. Gotta look for warning signs... constantly.

Yall making this way harder than it should be..IMO

The game is to not play a game.

If the girl you're with plays games, get your ass out and get yourself a grown ass woman.

the dudes I know who play games all lost in their lovelife, untill they realised It's not a game.

Of course lots of things that have been said are generally true, but the girls on which they apply shouldn't be wifey material anyway.

I'm not married jet tho, so my advice on this shouldn't be taken like gospel.

I'm not married jet tho, so my advice on this shouldn't be taken like gospel.

My findings come for years of study and field research.

35% of it comes from women friends who used to try to find out the inner workings of the male mind by asking me CRAZY questions that I flat out lied to 'em about so I wouldn't be snitching. Some of 'em were more "guy-like" than the actual dudes I hung around.

I say that one day you're going to be really surprised if you think you aren't in a game. You might end up feeling like Cleveland basketball fans when the news breaks...

Analogy: People don't play for the same team their entire career that much anymore. There's always somebody else that wants 'em and they might switch teams if their needs aren't being met. Those needs change depending on the season. Decide whether you can were short sleeves or if you need an umbrella... pretty much just pay attention.

Do the damn thang. Don't listen to none o da ish I said, lol. It's just what I believe and decided to post.... it's not law or anything. Works for me though.

The trick to women is always making them think another one is waiting in the wings, yet artfully displaying your ignorance of this fact.

You ever wonder why the King Lion lays around and doesn't do shit but fight other dudes, and the mama goes out and hunts and protects the cubs? There are 20 other mama lions in the same pride....

Nah...that's a mistake. Because if your woman doesn't feel secure, and always feels like you got another chick around the corner, she's gonna do the same thing.

And that defeats the purpose.

I used to think like you...until I found out my chick had about 5 dudes on standby, and was fcuking one or 2 of them, "just in case i hurt her".

Now if she sees other women expressing an interest in you, that's different. Cuz that tells her that if she doesn't doesn't act right, you got options.

Same tactic, different approach, with different outcome.

They will create situations regardless and will stew about those situations until that inopportune moment when you're about to walk out the door to the game.

"So what was the deal with that lady in traffic that you cut off, is that your way of flirting mister"

*3 Hours later*

"Oh...well I guess you're right...I didn't see that she was handicapped...you still going to the game?"

*THE GAME IS OVER*

Troup/Rome, ya'll married? If so, how do you balance family responsibility with music responsibility. It seems like in today's day and age, time is currency and there's never enough for everything.
