I suggest you sell your equipment and move on,maybe become a professional bowler.
So Robot Sunset II, what should I do? Instead of starting this website, what do you suggest that I do?
I would say think about and focus on what makes people want to listen to music. The elements of songs and beats that make people LOVE them. I mean you know how to sequence, you have experience, you have technology.
Keep evolving like you said and use the tools and skills you already have to figure out what you can do to make the masses take pleasure from your audio recordings. We have had so many hits in our society and so many musical styles that its almost overwhelming to consider what your options are when you first start making a song on a empty palette.
So study those hits with your producer cap on and try to figure out psychologicaly why those songs were hits. Focus on the techniques so you can know why they work and how you can create those same effects.
Try to make things so catchy that if you listen 200 times over and over you wont get tired of it. And once you make something, you should instantly love love it. if not scrap it. You need lighting to strike. And you need to understand if it does when it does. And why it does. And why people love what they love.
On hit records, lighting strikes multiple times. With the Beatles for example, they were able to make lighting strike on purpose over and over again like geniuses.
I would say try that have be your goal. Making songs that are so good and so creative that many professionals will want to do business (which you are ready for that) as if your skills are their meal ticket. Powerful and wealthy people are always on the lookout for elite talent.
I can imagine people having checked you out and gotten that pro-sumer vibe and thought.... nah...
Which is the one thing I am trying to express. Which was my initial impression of you. So maybe that information from a strangers point of view might be of some use to you.
now I ask you the question of why isnt there a 'Future Artist' or 'Future Label Exec' or 'Future DJ' message board around? If it does exist I stand corrected.
hahha i almost forgot about the days of the green site.good to see that not much has changed on fp since the green site.
So learn how to make a hit (as if there's a science).
And then what? What should I do after that? Because at that point, I'm still in my basement, making beats.
If you had hit material A&R would be bending over backwards to get it off you.
Yes...Bending over backwards all the way to my basement.
So is that your solution? Make "hit" records, and feed them to A&R's?

lots of people want to listen to garbage. don't get me wrong, there's money in that. but for integrity's sake, why not just stick to making *good* music? The solution is: Make music people want to listen to.
The solution is: Make music people want to listen to.
