Lyrics DO matter..........it's just corny dudes today with some dope lyrics...but they don't say that shit with authority..which equals the weakness of punchlines and phrases today.
One reason why Rakim will be the G.O.A.T is his voice.....how he spit. It's lyricist today that's way better than Rakim was......they just have no control of the mic....and their voice sounds like shit. Rakim had TOTAL CONTROL. He could say a doo doo line and make it sound better than the dopest line any rapper today has ever said.
It's what makes Biggie and 2Pac considered the greatest. Why LL is considered a greatest. Ice Cube. The voice. What's a dope line if your voice sounds like shit? The answer....just some shit you wrote.
