I have the opportunity to choose between a Yamaha SY55 and a Yamaha SY77.

Which one should I choose. I really really like the sounds from the SY55, but I'd also like to have an SY77 because of the FM-edit.
Does the SY77 contain some of the sounds from SY55, or could I make them??? Because I like them so much
Please help. Detailed explenation! Plz!

There is manual for the SY 55 that you can download here....

I have the SY99, (a trade for a MC 505, isn't incredible??), but I don't know about the smaller ones.

They are cool FM synths, but not so good as the DX7, the poly for FM is around 16, the sequencer is a headache and witth really limited storage capabilities.

These are similar in name only, and sound nothing alike.

The SY-55 has NO FM whatsoever and is simply an S&S synth, whereas the SY-77 is a hybrid FM, S&S synth.

My advice would be to go with the SY-77, but everything's subjective.
