YAMAHA QY series Question

Is anyone's familiar with the Qy700 and Qy300 Yamaha series sequencers?

I'm trying to compare them and see if the cheaper Qy300 isn't essentially the same as the qy700 internally.

I'd like to know if the sound modules inside are similar and if it's
possible to send the midi data into my DWA (iMac, logic software) via cable instead of floppy disk. It would be worth spending a little more on the qy700 if it gave me more creative flexibility and manipulation of the sounds.

Thanks

I don't know how different the QY300 is to the QY700 but you can transfer MIDI data using just the MIDI cable, my little QY20 has no drive of any kind so the MIDI out is the only way to transfer the data.

Oh yea through the midi ports. I wonder what the floppy disk drive does? I should read the manuals. It's tough buying older gear because you can't tryout ebay items.

I imagine you will be able to save sequences as well as Standard MIDI Files type 0 and 1 to floppy but I don't know how you would go with jamming them floppies into your Mac.

You might be able to catch a demo of the QY on youtube.
