Xone:62 Cue Section

Alright guys, good news, Allen-Heath Xone:62 came in yesterday, a day earlier than expected, however, I am having problems getting used to it. I'm not used to the cue section and everything. I miss the old cue section from my Vestax PMC-170, but oh my god. The sound quality on this thing is just amazing. One thing about the filters however. I noticed they make a significant change when you push the filters button, particularly with band pass and low pass. Is there any way to get into and out of these filters without this noticable skip?

i don't know the cue system on the PMC-170... but what do u wanna do?
and i don't get ur question about the filters... :confused:
 
If you have the HP selected turn the frequency knob to the far left and set resonance to mild.

For LP turn the frequency knob to the far right and set resonance to mild.

You should hear minimal change in sound when you engage the filter.

If you select LP with freq. to the far right and resonace to the wild you can nicely bring out the high hats and then punch them in and out.

Does anybody have trouble quickly cutting and bringing the sound in and out with the faders on this mixer, I can't seem to do it as they are so smooth the sound never seem to be fully cut out.
 
finally! someone else who doesnt like the cue system on this board!
 
the xone seems to have many more cue options than most other mixers i've seen...one of those options has to work out for you.
 
i've found that i can mix with both headphones on with the Xone. what i typically do is...
1. press the two cue switches of the two records together, then slightly adjust the gain of the one i'm cuing so it is higher than the one playing from the speakers. sometimes i'll hit "split cue" so you hear the record you're cuing in the left earphone higher than the right. (i don't know if this is a feature on the 62)

2. i listen to the records with split cue off, once everything sounds kosher, i turn the gain on the cued record back to slightly below the one playing

3. when i'm ready to cross over, i simply kill the cues, and bring in the xfader about halfway over and then slowly adjust gains and eq..

so that might not make a whole LOT of sense, but i tried. i had a guy spin on my decks and use my mixer this weekend and he had a hard time with the cuing system. once you get used to it, it feels almost flawless. it just takes getting used to.
