So..
Like many of us here probably, I own a pair of the notorious silver sony headphones. I've had them for just over a year now and used them primarily at home and only a few times at the club. I loved them for the first 6 months, but that's about it..
After about 6 months of use, the leather on the earcups started cracking, and has just got progressively worse no matter how careful I am with my gear (and I try to be really careful since these weren't cheap headphones). The cracking leather kinda pissed me off but I lived with it since it didn't really affect the performance of the headphone. But, after noticing that my headphones didn't quite feel right yesterday, I took a closer look and noticed that the plastic cylinder which connects the earcup to the hinge has cracked on both sides of the headphone! They look to be on the verge of just falling apart totally now and they don't even sit right.. WTF!! I've never abused my headphones in anyway and to have them fail like this after normal use is just plain ridiculous! When I first bought them I noticed that the construction looked kinda cheesy, but with so many rave reviews on them I went with them anyways..
So of course they're out of warranty and I can't do sh*t with them, except maybe glue them, but of course they'll just break again.. not what I expected for Sony's "best" DJ headphone. I feel like I just threw away $200CDN now.. Has this happened to anyone else????? I'm curious to know as there seems to be a healthy crew of mdrv700 user's here.
Needless to say I'm pretty pissed off as they can't even seem to hold up to casual use..
btw.. I remember hearing that the big name DJs don't actually use the same 700s as the consumer version and actually get a MUCH better version... anybody know if that's true??
