There was nothing wrong with that trailer; ya'll just love complaining. It'll be way better than Ralph's Daniel-san from the looks of it.

Where's the originality in hollywood these day??

Music=Movies. Trends. People have spoken, and remakes over the past few years have become the norm, because fresh ideas are ignored. People want too see something with a huge budget, visuals. Its a culture of A.D.D. , just as with music everything made now is forgettable, and if its an original break the mold type song, its not what the masses want, because its not what american studios(labels) want to feed u. Labels and studios(movies) want proven winers, and will eat off that plate, till the even the scrapes are gone. Its weak as hell, but its the culture now. This movie based on the trailor, looks ok, I mean would I pay to see it, no. Would I want to see it no. But I could see a young kid wanting to. Its a catered movie, and me being 27, I don't think i'm in the intended demographic, I know the OG version, and didn't care much for that one, or those.

Business: Jackie Chan in a movie is a very solid gross internationally (he IS that dude in Chinese markets, like an "Ahnold"/Stallone/Snipes/etc. all in one.) That reduces the risk for this tremendously. Add in child of successful music star/actor. Another boost.

And the vehicle is a very famous movie franchise that has sat long enough that revisiting it won't be too soon.

Adds up to a hit for me. Might be a POS as a movie, but as a money maker, this one has very little risk.

This is geared toward a younger, more family oriented audience, even more so than that of the original movie. I've learned that you cant judge a movie until you actually see it.

This is more like an adaptation of the original.

I agree.

Scarface IS a re-make.

Scarface is more of an adaptation as well. If you see the original that came out in the 1930's and the 80's version, their overall theme is similar but the stories are not.

The issue I have with "remakes" is why not just get inspired by a movie and make your own movie off that inspiration. A good example of that is "Just One of the Guys "(80s) and "She's the Man" (00s). They have similar themes: A girl posing as a guy but they are different stories. You can easily say that She's The Man was inspired by Just One Of The Guys.

Another good example is "The Terminator" and "The Matrix". Similar stories: Machines (AI) trying to take over the world but different movies. BUT you can easily say that Terminator was an inspiration to The Matrix and both are classics.

So why not just get inspired by a movie and then create your masterpiece. To keep it music related...Its like taking a sample and instead of just looping it and adding drums, you chop it up and rearrange the chops to make your own melody or interpolate it with live instruments and change it enough that its your own.
