Capone N' Noreaga used it. Not sure if they used the sample or if they had the music replayed, but they had Carl Thomas sing the lyrics over as the intro to The Reunion LP.

aiight..thanks...cuz there really is not much to sample..but i could see how you could replay it...thats what i was going to try and do.

camron sampled it for the early cut of "lord knows" but the vocal sample was later taken out and jaheim sang something else instead

yeah...the track turned out tottaly different now..i could use the vocal sample and it sounds great, i can take it out...and it sounds just as good...ill upload it after i complete the whole song to it

too many people have done it so far if I were you I wouldn't.

yeah..i see that know..the only thing i used was the vocal sample...the actual beat sounds nothing like the original melody, its coming..u will hear ;) plus the progression i used it like 2 step higher

It really doesn't matter who sample it already. Just do it and make it sound good. I just did that song last week. I was thinking the same thing that you are but when you look at the big picture, there is nobody that really just made a hit off of that song. That song can be sampled in so many ways because it has beautiful music. Also try doing Guilty by Al Green.

there's also a sample of the intro to Sam Cooke's classic on the beginning of Nas' IT WAS WRITTEN.

so what if people have already used the sample. A)Everyone who heard all those songs may be a different crowd from the one who hears yours and B)You can always use it in a different way. Think about painting or coloring in school. Every student was given the same box of crayons, the same paper to color in many cases, and the same amount of time. Yet, ironically, each picture came out unique and different from each of the others, unless you were copying, trying to be like a friend.

tha sample was also used on a Papoose track for tha track he made for Sean Bell...

that track was raped relentlessly lmao...good luck

Lol @ responding to a thread 4 years later

this is the one I was going to say. I've thought about sampling this song many times, but I haven't for 2 reasons. 1- The songs meaning is incredible, one of the best ever black protest songs that he peformed after he was already famous, yet couldn't get a hotel room... Etc... And 2- if I did sample this song, the beat would have to be as good as the original (which would be damn hard considering I put Sam Cooke in the same place many people put Curtis Mayfield or Donny Hathaway). I can't lie though... When I first heard that Cam'ron track (Nasty Beatmakers is who did the track I think) I lost my mind. That track was crazy...
