I have been wondering this because I have several vst's and only several of them give me that r&B lead type of sound. Like in usher's burn or frankie j's how to deal or lloyd's ghetto love. Any help

Thats good reverb also good delays thats how they achieved sound.

yeah but usually they use vst's with synths I just wanted to know which are the more popular ones for leads.

I like

NI Pro 53
Reason Thor
Cakewalk Rapture
Moog Modular

Really I think you can use just about anything, most R&B leads are pretty simple, it's mostly in how they are played and sit in the mix. Learning to play leads with expression is probably the most difficult thing to achieve. I've seen people at keyboard stores play some amazing lines on some very inexpensive keyboards.

1 week ago, I learned something.
"There is no Best VSTi because all of them are very good. They have only different characteristics!"

For e.g: VSti "A" can fly but VSTi "B" can swim. So just use both of them :)

there are plenty of freeware vst thatll do the job just nicely.. synth1, oatmeal, voyager to name a few

very true it is about how you use them. I have been using many vst's that sound way too chessy and fake I need a vst that has those nice synth leads that I can play

minimoogue va! Good stuff. Also spend a little money and get reaper for sounds. It has tons. You can find it for under 30 on ebay or you can buy the 2nd one for 79.

rnb leads are easy to produce. Albino 3 is more than enough> Reason s Thor also. maybe u are jusdginfg the synth by its presets. with a lil knowledge u can do everything with albino

No one mentioned z3ta!. It has some great rnb lead presets, and of course Rapture was already mentioned.
