whats the craic?just wondering what people think the best 3 0r 4 channel scratch mixer on the market is?i had a rane ttm56 but had to return it but thats a whole different story.so any suggestions for around the 900 /1100euro mark.

Eyo man you returned the best scratch mixer bro...there is no better battle mixer

I feel sorry you had to give away the ttm56. If you need 3 or four channels test the pioneers, they have the best faders after rane in my opinion.

Greetz from your €-friend in germany!

yeah i know sweet mixer.the cue was bleeding and coming through in the mix.i returned it to get it repaired it was still under warranty that was 3 months ago so im gonna run amok in that pissy little shop.i get the cash back.

There aren't many 3/4 Channel mixers on the market, there are mixers which can cope with scratching but not necessarily built for scratching.

The 3 channel built for scratching that comes to mind is the Rane Empath.

Questions like these are always relative... it depends on what works for you. what you like someone else might hate...

i once bought a numark mixer... no loud audio, no scratching...died in a week... had my vestax for five years (parties, clubs, battles) and no problems...

Mixers (in general) that have more than two channels on them, are not scratch/battle mixers... they are mixing/club/house/trance type mixers... if your scratching and battlin you only really need two channels....

Rane/vestax are the two top (in my mind) pioneer make good club/mixing mixers(more than two channel)... and mixing mixers not really scratch mixers...

exactly what i was gonna say. and good to hear, cuz i havent touched a vestax mixer in a couple years....

rane has become totally frikkin awesome though...

dont use a pioneer for scratchin... waste of cash, and a nice mixer.

If you change your mind about it having to be 3/4 channel. I would look at the allen and heath Xone:02. I have one, second mixer Ive owned, but Ive used stantons, geminis, and numarks. I love the sound. Has P&G crossfader. Ive had it for a year and a half now no problems. Love the look(It matches my TTX1s and my newly aquired fantom). This is gone be my main mixer for a while. Other mixers that I really want to try out though are the TTM56 and the HAk360

I've had about 20 different mixers in my 14 years of dj'ing. 2 Numark, 2 gemini, 1 kam, 1 ecler, 4 vestax, 1 allen & heath, blah blah blah, and can say until I get my new rane ttm56 in about 3 weeks time, that the allen & heath xone-02 I had, had the best sound quality but the faders leaked after about 2 days (I went through 6 crossfaders in 3 months, penny and guiles and alpha), but supposedly thr best scratch mixer in the world is the rane ttm56. Like i've said i've had quiite a few dj mixers in my time with the most expensive being the vestax pmc-40 and the allen & heath beat that for sound quality. I've heard the rane before and the sound is brilliant, but I couldnt say whether its better than the allen & heath. I guess really, if you want the best quality mixer which is brilliant for scratching then you wont go far wrong with an allen & heath xone-92 but thats gonna cost you a pretty penny at about £900. but hey thats the price you pay for a brilliant quality mixer.

bottom line... you tend to get what you pay for... get the Rane... be happy

btw i love my Vestax pmc07 and am going to get that proxfade also...

cheers everyone but the reason i brought it back was the cue was bleeding through the mix.so if i was cueing the next record for beat mixing it came through and could be heard being set up.i returned it to the shop then after 3 months was told there was nothing wrong with it.we set it up in the shop i pointed out the problem and they agreed it must be faulty.after a long wait they said it was tested and worked withih the parameters.granted it might worked but it still bleeds which is no use to me,today i upgraded to the empath same thing,so any one else with a rane have this problem.its a real shame cause i loved that mixer but i cant work like that.very annoying.

the rane is the best if you want a work horse, it does most things and it does them good. but if you wanna add fx and **** then get the vestax08, it has 2 send/receive loops instead of one.

if you're interested in 3/4 channel mixers then get the pioneer mixers, you will be able to put the new pro x fade into it.

or get the rane empath, its 3 channel and a p&g crossfader comes with it (i think).

P.S. although the rane uses magnetic rails and ****, you still need to clean it. just because it's non-contact doesn't mean you can just ignore basic mixer care.

P.P.S. are you from ireland??

mixer

cheers everyone got it sorted,iv had so much trouble in the last 3 months with mixers,ttm56,empath,but i finally got a ttm56 that works.sweet mixer.hopefully now it stays working.yeah man born, bred and buttered in ireland.sainte.

I have a 3 channel "scratch" mixer... but, it might be hard to find.

I have owned a Numark PPD01 mixer for years now and haven't had any problems. You get two channels, digital quality, and some built-in effects. It was expensive when I bought it, but the price has dropped a lot.

For hardcore turntablism type scratchin' I would go with the Rane or a Vestax just cuz they hold up well. For club mixing almost any top end model that has the specific bells and whistles you need. Gains, E.q.s, effects or whatever your fancy is. I suggest you not let anyone on here dictate to you what's "BEST" but, better yet take their input, go play around with different stuff and pick out what works for you. I've had to learn that the hard way after buying all sorts of gear that everybody said was the "BEST". Peace and good luck.

I feel the pain of 3-channel "scratch" mixer fans. I'm a deep-mixing 3-deck house dj primarily, but i'll drop breaks, downtempo or whatever, and though originally from san francisco i'm now in florida and hang with lots of Orlando-trance-break style dj's who grew up with Freestyle and incorporate scratching into their mix and it's REALLY powerful and not grandstanding or in-your-face (battle-style), just "extreme flow" if i had to describe it and am trying to incorporate it into my sets as well, but am finding it nearly impossible to find a high-end 3-chan mixer with line/phono toggles, even the ones that only have 2 inputs per channel. The Pioneers are the only ones besides entry-level Numarks, Geminis, Behringers etc that have them, but i'd prefer something less cluttered and better sounding, like an Ecler Nuo 3.0, but to use that i'd have to be able to switch out those input slide switches for toggles.

SO 10 years ago i traded in my Rane MP24 on a Numark 2002x, which not only has 3 channels replete with rotatable toggles above each fader (as opposed to above the whole channel like most multi-chans), but actually has the channels LINED UP correctly, with the 2 main channels centered above the fader and the 3rd one staggered to the left to match the deck lineup, as opposed to the current trend of centering the middle channel above the xfader in the middle of the mixer, making you have to mount the 3rd deck above the mixer if you want A) your deck order to match your fader order and B) the xfader centered between the main left/right decks. with the 2002x, you've got traditional 3-deck mixing configuration on an uncluttered faceplate with nothing between you and those toggles and the ability to reach that leftmost deck with your right hand on a line fader that's located to make it easy.

The catch? It sounds terrible! BUT i've been looking for something better-sounding with a similar layout/features for years with no luck, and when it comes to ergonomics-vs-hifi i drew that line in the sand when i unloaded my Rane, and the Empath's layout (the annoying 3-centered as opposed to the 2+1 we deep mixers prefer) and lack of viable transform switches just doesn't suit my workflow. I could make do with the fader lineup, but no transforms on a scratch mixer designed by Grandmater Flash? Was he anti-transforming or something? Maybe he's a purist who thinks that's cheating?

Anyway, as someone who's looking for exactly this type of mixer (a scratchable house mixer with no frills), i can say with confidence that it doesn't currently exist or i wouldn't be rebuilding an entry-level Numark every 6 months or so.. The Pios are as close as i can find, but they're such beasts. Screw fx, a REAL trance dj induces it the olde-fashioned way: by mixing minimal dubs on multiple decks. Anything less is just McTrance!
