I've got to say........The FantomX.

1) Skip Back Sampling....truly awesome
2) Auto Chop
3) Auto tempo match
4) Audio Tracks....with all other samplers, if you drop in a sampled phrase at bar 14 beat 3, you wont hear the phrase, if you start the sequencer at bar 15. With the Fantom audio tracks, you do. Works really well for editing your sequence.
5) over 500mb of sampling memory
6) your choice of storage media
7) USB midi/data interface

The audio track statement is in-incorrect. The Triton Studio does have audio recording. It even records the audio straight to its hard disk.

The MPC 2500 also has audio track recording. You can record this audio at bar 14 beat 3 and play it back at bar 15 and hear the audio. Using the cursor keys, you can jump around different parts of the track to hear the recorded audio. This is a new MPC function and has been included in OS Version 1.00.

I didn't want to bring the MPC's into this, because dude asked about the best Sampling Workstation. You've always said the MPCs weren't workstations........

Why do you even bother getting in on these threads?? You don't have a clue as to what is the best sampling workstation. You can't suggest any sampling workstation as the best. You just want to pick apart my words.

So dude asked a question, so far, the only answer he's gotten, is the FantomX. Plus, a bunch of reasons of why it isn't. But no other suggestion for best sampling workstation.

I don't have a clue? I own or have owned most of the sampling workstations that people have called the best at one time or the other: ASR-10, Triton Studio, Motif, Fantom X.

I already stated that I think Korg has the better all-around sampling workstations although I am using the Fantom X.

As far as MPCs..they are the best MIDI production work centers/drum machines on the planet. I only brought them up because you claimed that the Fantom is the only workstation that has audio tracks. The Triton Studio had audio tracks before the Fantom. Korg Oasys has audio tracks. Alesis Fusion has 8 tracks of audio hard disk recording. Alesis is martketing the Fusion as the 'only workstation that has 8 tracks of 24bit audio recording.' Even the old dusty ASR-10 can record audio tracks if you have a SCSI hard drive commected.

As far as the Fantom X...save up the additional money and go for the 88-key version if your heart is set on one. I wish I had the room for another 88-key keyboard...but if you are going to spend $3000 on a keyboard, I might go with a Kurzweil ;)

Having owned damn near everything under the sun, my vote goes to the Fantom X based on it's wide variety of EASY to use features and the Akai MPC 4000 for obvious reasons.

the other day i looked into the fantomx but i came across more than one model, witch one is it that u guys are talkn about? im so buying the mpc4000plus once i get the money, its gonna be a long while till that happens though :-(.

Anyway, I don´t care what´s the best or the worst one or hell or heaven.
:O

I put that you don't have a clue in there, because back on page one, of you not being able to say which is the best sampling workstation, you said you couldn't pick a best.......I've recently looked back, so that I could quote it for you, and it seems that I misunderstood what you said. My bad.

Bought it Saturday. FantomX8. It's amazing what difference the weighted keys make. "So True" & "Warm Piano" are my favorite piano patches on my FantomS. The same patches on my daughters FantomX8 sound and feel sooooooo much better.......to me. Even the EPs.....they sound and feel better too.

Audio tracks......You're right, I missed the Fusion, and the Oasys. I don't think the Triton Classics two audio tracks work the way we are saying the Fantom's work. I think they work more like the ASR-10s, which isn't the same.

I didn't mean Triton Classic. I am talking about the Triton Studio which does have real hard disk audio tracks...but only two. But since they are hard drive tracks, you are not limited my RAM.

The ASR has external hard disk recording. No its not like the Fantom but it does record actual audio and not just sequence data which triggers audio :)

naugie,

Get the Fantom X8 if you want a Fantom..I don't think you would regret it.
