On a budget my rig is the AUDIO TECHNICA AT2020 condenser cardoid mic plugged in to a MAUDIO m track duo using phantom power and a crystal preamp. The sound is pretty clean with minimal compression and eq needed.

I 2nd that AT2020, its a great sound for such a cheap price.
