i know a fair amount about the history of rock,i just dont see why a thread about led zeppelin cant just be about LED ZEPPELIN

I know they are not hip hop, but I'm sure many samplers here have heard or sampled their songs, and since the rock section is dead, maybe you could help me out.

The story of Led Zeppelin is fascinating me right now. This band released no singles, were almost anonymous. They stayed away from the media and rarely ever had interviews. Their biggest album (and biggest selling rock album ever) didn't have any name on it. But they became the most popular rock band ever. Even bigger than The Beatles.

I've been listening to their songs and I don't get why they were so popular.

Any Led Zeppelin fans here can explain what makes them so great?

Pick up their concert DVD. I believe it was recorded in Long Beach in the 1960's. You will the craziest drums and the best guitar playing every.

Page used a violin stick (whatever you call it) to play the F'n guitar.

john boham on drums one of the greatest to ever play. jimmy page on the guitar one of the greatest to ever play. robert plant with the unque vocals...

yes, they have a heavy blues influence but what made them great was how they took the blues and played it in odd time signatures (i.e. 7/4, 11/4, etc)...

at the time no one had ever heard anything like it (blues in odd meters).

No offense taken. It's all opinions. I like them because they're very soulful. I hate heavy metal bands. Those mofos don't every know what time signature is.
