Tiesto's new sound really inspires me, his lasted track called "Maximal Crazy" has some trippy pitch changing synth sounds that I just can't get out off my current synths. I know a true artist doesnt copy another artists style but any help like what synths he might use in his productions would be great. BTW any sugestions for big room synths that simply pitch up with tension with full octive control. Thanks!

You shouldn't try to sound like Tiesto. Tiesto sounds like Tiesto. You need to sound original not a copy.

I'm not trying to sound like him, he sounds like he does on how he uses his synths, I'm just in need of info on what he MIGHT use or something similar.

Why use what he has if you don't want to sound like him? Why not use what you use and sound like you?

maybe he just likes the sound and wants to make a track using that type of sound, not necessarily coping his style. is that such a crime?

I like his sounds too but, I wouldn't ever want to sound like someone else. It's not a crime to copy someone's style it's just a stupid idea. There is no logic in trying to get signed when you sound like ______ or are very similar to ______ . The industry doesn't want another Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, or whoever your idol is. The industry wants another original artist that has CREATED his/her own style LIKE Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, or whoever your idol is. Make the music yours.

your twisting my words... Im All for being original, im not saying to copy his "STYLE". What im saying is its ok to like a specific sound and want to use it to make something of your own. Just cuz one person uses a specific synth anyone else who uses that "SOUND" is copying there style...? No thats ridiculous. the OP just wants to know the "INSTRUMENT" used or something similar, not so he can EMULATE his "style" (well if he is,thats for him to say idk). Its actual "SOUND" im talking about not "STYLE". Im sure countless producers have used the same sounds and have come up with something totally different and "original". By all means be original

...I'm just trying to encourage him not to care about what he uses. More then likely he won't find out what he uses. I don't think anybody knows besides people he's worked with.

yeah i know what you mean tho. he probly created that patch. I know iv herd that kinda sound before but i forget were.

I dont understand why people hate on others for wanting to know how someone makes a sound......Most the time, its not about trying to sound like that person..in this case Tiesto... Its about LEARNING. There is nothing wrong with that.

How did I learn how to make beats? I downloaded songs that Alchemist and 9th Wonder sampled....and re-made their beats to get an understanding how they made their music. Do my beats sound like theirs??? No....but I wouldn't have been able to develope my sound if I didn't learn from the pros...Because if I didn't learn from them...I would have been completely lost when it came to beat making.

As for the dude asking about the plugins... I don't know what plugins Tiesto uses.....and I've never heard your music before to know what it sounds like, or to know what kind of skills you have. But I want to add that it does not matter what you use...its how you use it. Tiesto most likely knows his shit and has tons of knowledge which he incorporates into his synthesis. He could make hot music no matter he uses. So while you're learning how to re-create sounds the pro's create...continue reading and learning on your own, so eventually you won't have to ask how to make this/that sound...you already know how to.

amen!! like fcuk, anytime someone asks how to sound like someone or what someone uses, there is some a$$hole who just says "learn your own style and dont copy". like holy shit as this brilliant guy said, its about learning and trying to turn their styles into possibly a form of your own. by learning how they sound that good you can create your own sound and style which can be on their level. so please i hope i never see this bullshit again, either help or shut the fcuk up

i heard Tiesto use vstation n nexus .... i do like the sound however i don't believe that tiesto create the sounds by himself i believe sound engineers managers create the sounds for him ( like benny benassi) there r videos about tiesto in he's studio.
btw i'm looking for the DMS dimension trance vsti does someone knows from where i can download ? i look since 1 week the whole www unfortunately i can't find the torrent . thanks in advance.

ive heard some presets in his tracks which sound like they came outta vanguard, for example the hale bopp preset in lethal industry and th beast lead as one part of the main lead in hes a pirate.

Stop hating

The kid who posted on this thread about being a copy not an original is true, however when i am starting to learn synthesis i would love to know how the best do what they do, hence the question. If someone knows the correct answer then tell him and dont ask quesitons, its all about knowing where to start, and not just twisting knobs unknowingly. Thats a good way to waste time. Thats my rant, and if anyone knows id like to try it out too.
