What is the going rate for beats on the open market? (aside from SoundClick)

Let's say someone is interested in your beat(this of course assumes the beat is hot), how much should you charge?

$500 - $1000

$1000 - $ $1500

$1500 - $2000

$2000 - $2500

$2500 - $3000

depends on who it is. Locally I charge $100-$300. If its a label its probably 1000+...

i'm lucky to get a beat go for 150... The terrible Soundclick Business.... but i refuse to do that this year

There's a going rate? What?

But 150 exclusives @PeezyBeatz? You gotta get down wit some true artists bruh

word. i stopped my sc grind pretty much. got sick of the bullshit. id rather make less money but actually make connections and see my ish being made/promoted/get a buzz in my city.

damn cats are still selling exclusive rights for $100-$200???

That sh!t is straight up retarded. Some of yall need to get a real job if your that desperate.

Your better off only selling leases if your selling exclusive rights for table scraps at least you'll still own full rights to your beats instead of selling your ownership for a little bit of nothing.

and some of yall talking bout selling a beat to a major for $1,000 really is that all you would negotiate??? yall have got to be teenagers with no job or business sense what so ever..

I wouldn't consider less than $5,000 for an album filler and $10,000+ for a single at a major label. The key is to negotiate!

Thanks!

That is what I'm after. Because it's hard to negotiate if you don't know the other guy's(industry guy) figure$.

if your selling exclusive rights to local cats or cats on soundclick $500-$1,000 is more than reasonable. You might not get as many buyers at first but it'll separate your serious artists from your hobby artists. and theres plenty of artists out there that are more than willing to pay that money but you have to back up your prices with a quality product!

Whoever tells you that your charging too much is just trying to play you and get full ownership of your work for pennies!

Know your value and negotiate and don't settle for less then your worth!

take those comments with a grain of salt.

98% of fp has never seen any real money coming from beats.
Ppl are too bizzy stuntin on this forums.

Honestly I've sold beats (exclusives) from for $100. Aye, its a recession lol, plus the beats weren't mixed properly/mastered.

I'm interested in industry buyers'(A&Rs, majors) prices though.

I know SoundClick is all over the place as far as pricing goes.

For major label projects:

Currently the rate for new producers (and most producers that have only a handful of album filler placements) is $0 - $5000, generally . This is before the manager/middle man connect/ A&R/ Goon/etc gets their cut which is usually in the 10-20% range. They will also demand a piece of your publishing as well since thats a more secure revenue stream than producer royalties which only comes if the artist recoupes off the project which is almost never.

After that your rates can jump up if you have charting singles under your belt, especially if the single is a Top 10 and/or has went Gold or better. Of course it has to be recent because as time passes if you don't keep up then what you can make obviously begins to slide down. Its very much what have you done lately business because of job justification on the A&R/Executive part (CYA). These rates can vary to a great degree depending on the label, project, previous relationship between the producer and the label brass, other back door politricks.

Also there is alot of bartering involved meaning free beats in exchange for free artist feature for their own artist project and things of that nature. Also some producers are willing to take less on the front end in exchange for a bigger back end piece. Some are FORCED to take nearly nothing upfront to insure they get a decent percentage of the pub

If you're a mid level producer that has years of consistently placing records on a number of projects then the typical range may be $8500 - $15000 per track.

If as a producer your sound is what's currently driving the mainstream marketplace then you could command a very healthy 5 figure advance per track, but remember only a handful of producers are ever in this position at any one time.

Don't cheat yourself on your beats!! Rappers are NOTHING without producers! We make the music for them! They NEED us!

If they didnt have us they would be on the corner still and not on songs..

Don't let them swindle you out of your money..

Check me out sometime when you get a chance
