I just bought some new monitors.
Nothing expensive, but great to me.
I listened already to my favorite tracks to check out the quality of the monitors.
But i ain't sure if their mixed or mastered well.
So i'm wondering, what is the best mixed and mastered hiphop/rap track out there?
Post youtubelink please.
If you got more than one, i'm cool with it.
Thanks in advance.

they is no best mixed or mastered.. you did right just use the genre of music you make to check your monitors..

Every engineer has there reference tracks,

When I used to assist Famous mixing engineers in studios in Miami I know a lot of them used Dre references for Hip hop.

Personally i still think the mix on Kayne West's - "All falls down" track is really nice, still reference it to this day.

Great ones are ok too, cause i've heard crappy mixes coming from known artist, for real.
I'm not saying i want the best in the world.

are you hearing mixes.. because "industry albums/singles" also get mastered...
but it's about having a great song too....

Dre definitely has great mixing and mastering, I'm also fond of the mixing and mastering on the Kanye and Rick Ross albums, mainly Graduation and Deeper Than Rap.

Personally... I use Luther Vandross "Never Too Much" as a reference a lot.
It was really mixed well.

My personal favorite is Xplosive from 2001. That song has one of the best sounding mixes ever from the guitar to the snare to the triangle. I also like to listen to songs that were mixed badly(Aint no nigga-JayZ, Trill niggas dont die-UGK, ANY PRE-UNIVERSAL CASH MONEY ALBUM, ) becuase it really lets you know that even harsh vocals, background hiss and dull sounds STILL CANT RUIN A GREAT PERFORMANCE!

Word.. just like Biggie "Juicy".
Horrible horrible mixed vocals... and it's a damn classic.

I like to reference MxPx, Jay-Z, Dre and some random pop stuff.

T.I.- Paper Trail was mixed pretty damn good...

I use Britney Spear's- Circus album for good reference on any type of track...that album was ridicolous.
