Hypersonic appears to be a a vst that is a must have for beat makers but I have windows 7 so I can not use it (plus they stopped making it), what would be an alternative, like an equivalent to hypersonic (2)?

Sampletank
VI ONE
Kontakt
others but I can't remember them.

I use VI ONE a lot, really good stuff in there and Sampletank is pretty good aswell. Not everything is as good as VI ONE but some stuff is better than VI ONE.

halion is pretty much the new hypersonic it takes hypersonic sound libraries and pretty much any other samplers sound libraries fully compatible

Depends on your definition of "better", but if someone is looking into Hypersonic alternatives, they more than likely want a keyboard workstation emulation, not REALISTIC SOUNDS.

Some people think since Eastwest is more realistic, it's automatically "better". Often not the case depending on your style of music.

Fair enough..

In my experience it has definately been easier to find quality synths then to find quality samples of real sounds. Im thinin it prolly has to do with the fact any sound engineer can sit on thier workstation and develop good synths, where as high quality sampling is more limited to those with a top dollar budget.

one thing i can offer from personal experience is stay away from dim pro. Back when i had hypersonic 2 i figured i would try dim pro, and the presets sounded horrible compared.

Still missed my point. "Workstation patches" are not limited to "synth sounds". A Korg Triton, Yamaha Motif, Alesis Fusion, or Roland Fantom are full of real sounds, but they're not intricate enough to sound like the real thing, they sound like a keyboard.

People often think the "realer" a guitar or string or piano sounds the better...but depending on the genre you perform, you may want a more "keyboardy(for lack of better word)" sound.

In my line of music, I've done alot more with string patches out of Reason's 500-600mb Factory bank and Hypersonic than I've done with my 6 DVD Eastwest Symphonic Orchestra Gold collection. But when I need a realistic orchestral composition, my Eastwest collection is the 1st place I go.

Eastwest products are too real to compete with music from a Motif ES if that's the sound that's dominant in your genre the same way a motif ES isn't realistic enough to score convincing orchestra music from. Huge difference between "Realistic Hypersampled Brass Section" and "Dirty Souf Brass".

Not arguing, just making sure you get what I was saying.

What do ya think is better than east west?

I guess it's opinion based but I just don't think you need to go out and get Eastwest Goliath when there are cheaper alternatives. And it's not like if you go buy Goliath your productions will be noticably better. Most of the Eastwest stuff is so geared towards TV/Games licensing creations that it doesn't always fit nice in a beat, just how deranged was saying. They are almost too realistic to fit into a beat depending on your style of course. I would buy Truepianos way before EastWest Pianos anyday.

I would buy VI ONE, Kontakt, Halion Sonic before I bought Eastwest Goliath simplly because they are cheaper, have vast amounts of high quality instruments lke Goliath.

Fair enough both understandable perspectives...

I guess my perspective is you can always "dumb"(used for lack of a better term coming to mind) down a good sample, while going the opposite way, trying to doctor up a bad sample, is much harder if not impossible sometimes.

I undersand where deranged is coming from.. Perfect example nexus with the reverbs and chorus on the stock presets sound to clean and fat when i try to lace them into a grimey sampled track.

Btw nexus is used as that is the last example i can think of using. Personally i dont much like nexus, but gotta use the tools we have :(

What do ya think is better than east west?

VSL (Vienna Symphonic Library) blows East-West out of the water - not saying EW is bad, but in answer to your question:

I can't post the link to it, but, if you google 'VST Rite of Spring' you can hear a pretty amazing example of the sample library...

NI Komplete !

In my opinion the best bang for your bucks is the Native Instruments Komplete series ! I got version 6, but I heard the new 7 is going to be really legit ! Plus you save 82% when you buy the complete package (like 24 legit programs and effects are in it)

Is omnisphere not similar to Hypersonic? I may be getting my vst mixed up but it gets good reviews anyway.
