a bar or measure is the standard unit of measurement of time/rhythm in a song.

Bars are a unit of measure for music. For instance, when you hear someone say that this is in 4/4 time, it means that each bar gets 4 quarter notes. A bar is also called a measure. 4/4 is the time signature. The bottom 4 represents the unit of division of the bar. The top 4 indicates how many of those unit divisions are in the bar. For instance, 3/4 time indicates that there are 3 quarter notes per bar. 7/8 time conversly means that there are 7 eighth notes per bar.

In science, a bar is also a unit of measure for pressure. 1 bar is equal to roughly 14.5psi
