what instruments are commonly used in rap? (mainly crunk)

I'm instrument impaired... the only sounds that I know sound tight are synths, brass, pizzicato, etc. but I just want to know what other instruments can ya list to help get a great sounding melody in rap tracks (especially crunk rap)

P.S. know any good sites that I can listen to different instruments and get a detail on what they do?
 
guitars definately, and fast attack strings.
 
thats where I lack at is the guitars... most of mine suck

All instruments can be used for any style of music. Just depends on how you use them to obtain that certain feeling

South,west,east
all use the same instruments

Piano
strings
synths
Brass
truments
etc

And if you want a unique style, dont necessarily use the same instruments as everyone else....
 
Use pianos pianos are an eerie crunk if u can get that down its clean
 
Rock n Roll muzic!! Sample it and see what u can do wit it. Lil Jon haz sampled a few Rock n Roll trackz.

Organz, Guitarz, Brazz, Orchesta type instumentz, and more.

Listen to some crunk trackz and write down what u hear and look fo thoze soundz.

There is no sound list for Rap.

From samples to orchestral.....that's the beauty of music.

However, there are 'fad' sounds that people go through..
