What happens if I separate the keyboard to my akai mpk mini

Hi i'm Michele this is my frist post, i'm italian sorry for my english is possible i will make spelling errors,
i would to separate the keyboard part in my mpk mini to the rest, becouse a key is damaged,
i would ask you if i remove the white cable in the photo, i risk of braking all the controller?

im pretty sure removing that cable would only disable the keys, but im not positive.
