Remember when he was a promising artist? When he was at his height?

I think it was his verse on Snoop's B**ch Please. The song itself wasn't a classic or anything, but his verse was insane.

After that he came out with Restless. I thought that was a sick album...it was a little watered down for him lyrically, but still a sick album overall. With Dre, BattleCat, Soopafly, Nottz, Eric Sermon and Dj Quik on the boards....sh!t, that was just a tight cd. This was his most successful album yet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Bn9YI2CGH8 (Soopafly, my favorite track on the album)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Grnzf6lKhRg (Nottz co produced this one)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlHigL32cEw (Eric Sermon...funkiest dude ever)

Then came Man V.s. Machine...Outstanding production, in my opinion. The dark beats reminded me a lot of Busta Rhyme's Genesis, but they stayed consistently dark. Rockwilder, Rick Rock, Kon Artis, Jelly Roll, Dre and others. I liked this one a lot, but he got mixed reviews, and didn't sell nearly as well. It had one successful single.

Then he came with WMD, which I thought was gonna be a comeback cd for him. Sh!t, that Timbaland track is still one of my favorite Timbaland beats of all time. And he had SO many choices for singles! Beware of Us, Cold World, Judgement Day....but nobody really talked about this album that much, except for Hey Now.

And now his latest one, which I thought was about as entertaining as sh!t on a pancake. The beats were not nearly as good as anything he had done before, especially that pathetic hyphy attempt Concentrate. Notice how he had gotten Rick Rock production since restless but once Hyphy popped off he made the Rick Rock track the lead single.

So, idk....I think he's a better rapper than a lot of dudes out, especially from the West (*cough* GAME *cough*)

It's just too bad he isn't as appreciated as veterans like jay or snoop, the guy has been putting out albums since 96....

i read it, and i agree... idk wat happended to X..

he lost his drive maybe??, lost his ambition

u kno.. honestly.. when like u said dudes been comin out wit fire since 96, and is never held in such high respects as other rappers in general.. beyond just the west coast

we could make a whole thread dedicated to artist who arent respected as they should be and are kind of in hibernation

You mean we could do what I'm doing now? I'm not sure I get what you're saying.

lol i mean we can make a whole bunch of threads like

"What Happended to DMX" or "What Happended to Rakim"

or "What Happended To Quan"

dats wat i meant, there are so many rappers out there who kinda disappear and are lost in the shadows

As soon as he started phuckin with Dre hardbody he started to fall off. He had some heat tho.

Now he is just enjoying that MTV money.

Quan workin on new material right now. I'm workin with him on a new track...I dont think its gonna be an album cut though.

Yeah X was sick back in the day, i enjoyed his freestyles and appearances better than his actual albums, but his first 3 albums were hot still.

i see what you mean. But then again, Rakim is a legend, DMX had crazy amounts of fame and popularity. People know Xzibit, and (unfortunately) they know Pimp My Ride, but it's not like he's "one of those rappers".

He's basically kinda faded away, and never had his classic album status or legacy written about him (do you know how many people obsess over Jay-z? It's like he's the current Rakim, even though Rakim is still around).

haha....wait for me to make a "Whatever happened to NaS" thread...THEN you'll see responses...

He f**ked with Dre. Bigger budget, sales didn't skyrocket, Dre quit f**kin with him, label shelfed him. Put out his last album indie.

And he's just a host of Pimp My Ride. That's like saying Juelz is rich from guest hosting 106.

I think what happened with his last album is the production sucked some straight ass.

MAN, his verse on Cali Vacation on Game's album was honestly some of the best iv heard from him....That showed me that he can still rap, but I feel he just needs some better beats or just some extra drive.

His verse was honestly no joke.
"red and blue can make green"

man i was just bumpin At the Speed of Life the other day

X used to have one of the illest deliveries in the game. he just doesn't have that charisma that he used to have anymore. i was listenin to his verse on Mitchy Slick's album from last year, and i noticed that he still has some aiight rhymes, but he just doesn't hold my attention like he used to anymore. but when i listen to his **** from before 2001, it still sounds fresh.

i liked concentrate? lol....i liked the aslbum in general but i know what u mean as far as him missing those ***** please hits...but can anyone really pump them out one after another??

u know what man...i was just thinking about this **** and listening to some old skool dre and the truth is,i miss all that old ****...i dont feel new music like i feel that old ****...i dunno if its coz i can relate to those older tracks that i grew up on or if its just coz everyone not just x is watered down now? dre makes hits constantly,i barely hear a track from him i dont like...but his old ****? i got love for those tracks on another level...they reall mean something to me and new joints barely scratch the surface for me anymore...thats just the name of the game atm i guess...i still enjoy new music, but not like those old days......

its depressing what music has become...and its funny coz i tried to stay positive about it for as long as i could...

It was all over when he started doing "Make My Whip Look Like Sh!t."

Xzibit is doing more than OK. He is just not going into the HOF, that's all. He still parties with the different industry folks, and has more than an average Joe.
