Usually the drums. I like a good groove and build everything around that.

You must live in siberia lol. Good guitar players are a dime a dozen. Ive been playing the better part of 15 years, and i will tell you this; If you can make it through the first six months without getting discouraged, then its all downhill from there. Got your hands on any chords at all? An A5 even?

Well then you should play guitar for me...

Check out my PMP page in my sig.

Snares, then i play with the hats, then add kicks, 808s, brass with the main chords and changes then the melody

I'm still pretty new; I find it easiest to start with the kick. Always the kick. Everything revolves around that, for me. Maybe when I get more advanced, I'll build more around melody.

Plus, the kick is the thing you have to side-chain and NY Compress, so I always trip out on it...

i put down a simple "drum hat snare hat" loop then mess with the sample and find my tempo (if im looping a sample). If I chop it into pieces and get creative I need drums to tap pads to....the drums need to sound good with the sample so the one shots I use are never set in stone I mess with them after to make them perfect.
