Using monitors is not an option, what headphones are best?

I swear by the Sennheiser HD280s, cheap, solid and in most cases true. Funny thing though, my studio partners kid left these incipio headphones in the control room a few weeks back and i plugged them in to get a good refrence, on a hip hop track i was tweaking and MY GOD, kids and bass these days, it was laughably low and almost missing the high end entirely....

I personally dont believe in headphone amp unlessits multiple headphones connected to one signal...sennheiser are good...and although it sound blasphemous, I believe CHECKING your mix on beats by dre or bose headphones is important ( maybe not primary mixing, of course)...its goo to hear stuff through consumer electronics
