I want to use sounds from fl wavfiles, soundfonts etc and sequence it in my Drum Machine and just save it as midi. the problem im having i can get one channel to record the notes. but once i try to start on the second sound in fruityloops it is still on that channel. what do i need to do in frutyloops to change the channel for every sound.

maybe im misunderstanding what youre asking, i think you want each instrument seperate? if so keep reading

in the step sequencer, to the left of each channel is a little green light which shows you the channel is active. right click the light and select Solo (you could also left click to turn on/off so that you have a few channels in one mix), export the whole song (or pattern, whichever you need), continue to export each channel solo, then you can bring all those into another app as multitrack

im not sure if theyve ever added a feature to export each track to a seperate file, but this is the method i use

hope this reaches you and helps out

what dude above said is correct but a faster way to do it is to put each track on its own mixer/fx channel then go to export as wave and check the box that says split mixer tracks this way it will save all your tracks perfect

the way you are talking about is faster but it takes longer to set it up...i would juz leave everthing default and play it as you go

FL doesn't differ between MIDI IN channels 1-16. It treats them all as one input channel. The VTSi version though does.
You could download Tobybears Minihost and load FL as a VSTi into it. This way you can load 16 different plugins in the step-sequencer and each one can be adressed with a different MIDI channel.
