So... musically... what IS flipping?

I have heard of flipping the bird, flipping a house and someone wearing flip-flops... but not musically...

So what is flipping in terms of music?

I must be getting too old for all this...

Take a song...any song
Slice it up and create a new and unique song using various slices and samples from that original song. Add a beat, make a new rhythm doesn't really matter and doesn't even have to sound like the original in any way if you choose.

It is simply what you make out of another song or instrumental.

You forgot the flipping table (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
 
Another word for it is 'sampling' too, which is probably more common. Really prominent in hip hop.
 
samppling a beat.. (a loop from a song or something) and changing into a new beat essentially.. (flipping the beat)

If you know Hip Hop you should know what it means in music terms and what is your age?
