i wanted to share this with you all, and this will definitly help you in producing your dancehall beats...

the first 2 seconds of all reggae songs start with a drum roll.. now all the snares in these drum rolls are completely unique.

on my hard drive i have about 200 sampled drum rolls, just waiting for me to extract the snare and chuck into my latest mix...

so if u need some new drum sounds, or just sick of using the same snare.. buy a reggae compilation and you should have am albums worth of solo'd snares

Thats kind of funny you should mention this. I was just telling my partner where I find these crazy snare samples. I've heard reggae snares being used by hip-hop producers for quite some time now. Check Evil D (Blackmoon) Havok (MobbDeep)

any authentic reggae cd, ive used lee scratch perry and even boy marley.

once u have isolated the snare sound itself, u can apply effects, change the pitch etc until you have made the snare completely different.

Also...look for any dub albums featuring the Aggrovators, Revolutionaries, Roots Radics (earlier releases) and Soul Vendors (Studio One releases).
