what WON'T you help somebody with?

as in, has anyone asked you for help before, but you declined to help them?

when people ask me to hand deliver records to artists i dont help them unless they agree to my terms. i gotta get that finders fee/percentage of the upfront money

i dont really just give away my sounds like that, not because my sounds are special but because i put a lot of pride in creating my shit, so i dont give them away

outside of that its allll fair game to help folks

Helping folks is one thing. Holding their hand and drawing up their business strategy and marketing plan in an FP thread is another.

I can easily tell someone "use social media in creative ways to engage and interact with your audience". That's simple enough, and it's a no brainer.

But WHAT is creative? What creative ideas fit their particular demographic, and compliments their particular style of music / image? What about quality control, what about compiling and analyzing metrics, and what about modifying the plan based on those?

All of those things cost money.

I think people see being a consultant as doing this....
